Thank you

Larry Sykes flashback: We only do business with those who do business with us

"Officials briefly discussed the possibility of investing with Abbey National Bank LLC of the United Kingdom. Mr. Sykes said he opposes overseas investments and prefers to put money into banks that have a local presence.

Unlike area financial institutions, Abbey would not likely send money across the Atlantic Ocean to help pay for a levy campaign in Toledo, Mr. Sykes noted [ADMIN EDIT: AKA A KICKBACK] "We do business with businesses who do business with us," he said.

TPS more questions than answers forum

For too many years questions have not been asked, answered or acted upon here in Toledo.. It is long past due for the people to express themselves and ask the questions that they want answers too. The MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS FORUM will at least allow the public to ask the questions at an OPEN MIKE FORUM. Getting the answers or action on these questions will be a little bit harder. But the mike will be in your hands as you ask the questions that you and your family desperately need to have asked.

Toledo’s children

I always look for confirmation when exposing people or situations. To expound on the topic “Toledo’s Children,” I have been battling with myself as to whether or not I should release this topic with my opinions however harsh they may be. My confirmation came from two sources, one an individual who heads one of the organizations and one I have been debating on whether or not I am being too harsh, the second came from a full page ad taken out in the Toledo Blade by the Toledo Blade titled “We the people.” That ad stated in it’s entirety, “Eight out of ten people read The Blade.

John Foley's apology letter to the Scott High School Alumni Association

Attached is the letter that John Foley sent the Scott Alumni Association. In it he explains why there was a delay and also pledges to work with the Scott Alumni Association on future work with Scott High School. See the attachment below.

Toledo Public School Board Meeting - Speak in support of a more inclusive Scott oversight committee

The proposed Scott Oversight Committee does have any of the people who worked so hard to get Scott remodeled. As it stands it has been confirmed by Mrs. Sobecki that she intends to present the handpicked committee to the TPS board for approval at the Sept. 22nd meeting at TPS. The time is 5:30PM. Please plan to attend.

If you desire to address the board before the decision is made please contact the Treasurers office at 1-419-671-8254 as asked to be allowed to speak at this meeting. You must contact them before 12 noon on Tuesday Sept 22nd, 2009 I believe. Your support is needed.

TPS excluding to add those to the oversight committee who worked to get Scott renovated

This does not make any sense why TPS would not have someone from the Scott Alumni Association on the oversight committee.

Response requested from Superintendent Foley - second request

Via e-mail from Steven Flagg:

For your information. Responses from John Foley to the original questions regarding the Scott auction are included in the text below. The auctions of TPS property have raised many questions within the Toledo community. Did they follow state law? Did we receive fair value for the property sold at these auctions? Why were property appraisals not completed for Scott and other auctions?

Mr. Foley,

Fisher discusses the TPS State Report Card Results

For Immediate Release

Fisher discusses the TPS State Report Card Results

Fisher Advocates for More Attention to our Schools in Academic Watch and Emergency

Yesterday TPS Announced the State Report Card Results and based upon the data TPS will remain in Continuous Improvement. Board Member Darlene Fisher, a long time advocate for families and educational progress in our public school system congratulates the students, parents,TPS teachers and staff and the community; all have contributed to the effort.

Pickett Elementary should be closed down as a school.

The state's report card became public today, although the results have been in for quite some time. Congratulations are in order for Start High School, the students, teachers and the administrators.

What is very disturbing, is the fact that Pickett Elementary once again is in Academic Emergency. It is the only school in the district that has been in school improvement for 10 years. In other words it has been in either Academic Watch or Academic Emergency for 10 years and has not met AYP. That would be a decade of school failure.

Open Letter to the Black Community and anyone else interested in fair play, fair dealing and the truth,

I had the opportunity of attending the Toledo Board of Education's interviews for filling the vacancy left by the abdication of Steve Steel, the inveterate politician.

The interviews were held with Bob Vasquez presiding over the proceedings. Present were Ms. Darlene Fisher, Mr. Bob Vasquez, Ms. Lisa Sobecki and Mr. Jack Ford.

Scott oversight committee

In June of 2009, the Scott Alumni Association through its president Robert Davis requested that TPS form an oversight committee for the Scott High School
building process. Two meetings were held with school board member Lisa
Sobecki, to discuss this formation. The last oversight committee was selected
during the term of former Superintendent Eugene Sanders.

The best coverage of the TPS board appointment

can be found in the Toledo Journal's article last week. They go more in depth on what candidates said during the interviews, which this year was oddly under reported by area media.

Dear Toledo School Board Members,

Why does TPS not want to involve Scott alumns in the renovation of Scott?

Why would anyone in TPS be non-committal in keeping Scott alumns involved in the renovation of Scott? Lisa Sobecki and the administration think it is a bad idea. Maybe if they are involved things will go right, because we all know TPS's record on the building plan. Poor planning. Poor decisions. Over spent, under built.

The Toledo Journal has more:

Toledo Public Schools officials like to say they welcome community involvement. Now, with Scott High School’s renovation approaching, the public will learn whether that is real sentiment or just words.
