Toledo City Council

Toledo City Council

Edna (Perlosi) Brown is busy spending money to decorate her office

She was chided in the council meeting for spending money on decorating her office when Toledo has a 50 million deficit problem. Her response "Its in the budget".

Rant and Rave

These fools on City Council voted for these union contracts urged on by Carty Finkbender.

Toledo owes Police / Firefighters $2.8 million in comp time

I find it ironic that City Council is upset with the fact the Police and Fire employees are cashing in their comp time. Its in their contract and they are entitled to it. If City Council did not want them to have it why did the council members approve the contract? Who can blame them to take it now with the city heading toward receivership and bankruptcy.

City Council afraid of Unions will let the voters decide on levys

This is a good thing. Toledo will go into receivership and we can start over. Its the only way the financial problems will be solved. There are not enough taxpayers in Toledo to support the current infer structure so something has to happen. It will be painful for awhile especially for the city workers but it has to be done. Prolonging the situation will just make matters worse. Hopefully, some of the city elected officials will be replaced with ones that will act for the good of the city and not for their own self interests.

Council looks at assessing churches for festival fees

Thats fine for the church I am associated with. We will just assess politicians a fee for
campaigning on our property.

WhatDoTheyStandFor.org Is Now Covering the Toledo City Council Race!

WhatDoTheyStandFor.org, a growing Toledo-based informational and political website, is now covering the 2009 Toledo City Council race. WhatDoTheyStandFor.org sends questions to all of the candidates, and then posts their responses in a user-friendly side-by-side format. Since the site’s administrators do not edit the candidates’ content, the result is a candid, nonpartisan review of the candidates’ positions on the issues of the campaign.

Politicians Take A Page From Teamwork Toledo's Strategy

It seems as if some politicians have taken a page from the strategy of Teamwork Toledo.

Endorsed Democrats Joe McNamara, Adam Martinez, Terry Biel, and Aji Green have banded together to spread their message of change and new ideas. They call themselves "Hungry4Change."

They will be campaigning together throughout the city.

McNamara, Martinez, and Biel are endorsed Democrats for Toledo City Council At-Large; Green is an endorsed Democrat for the Toledo Board of Education.

The Green Jobs Fallacy

Green jobs: Now with magic Obama-power!

President-elect Barack Obama is pushing a massive federal investment in "green jobs." He speaks about these jobs as if they are something new under the sun. If it could, the sun would probably laugh at such hyperbole.

How To Decide Who To Vote For

Does anyone have links to the candidate's website?

TFP: where's the editorial oversight?

This was sent to Michael Miller, editor of the Toledo Free Press for his irresponsible oversight of the story about Kevin Milliken's divorce records. This orginal post was removed from the facebook by Miller as well as from the comments posts on the orginal Free Press story. I guess you can comment, unless you call the editor's oversight into question. Feel free to forward with a SHAME ON MICHAEL MILLER tag!!

P.R.E.Z. for Council Nearing the End of Petition Drive

Boy. You want to talk about some arduous work. Long, hot days going door to door, talking with with people at festivals, attending civic gatherings, and a litany of many other small things that paid off in the end.

The PFC Campaign will be reeling in the petitions at the end of this week. They will be notarized and turned in to the Lucas County Board Of Elections within about a week.

TeamWork Toledo

My bad new at this. I stand behind my earlier statement. Some of the candidates are sounding like teamwork toledo this go round. Yes its true others have tried this approach. But the problem was the machine ate them up. Of course I'll have my support and the others will have thiers. So anyone is open for criticism. I'm out here giving to you how I fell. Like it or not. Have A Nice Day !

Failure of the Toledo area Media

I was born and raised in Toledo. I decided to do something worth while once I graduated College. I thought it would be important to save our veterans history in the area. Now 50 interviews later I feel we are beginning to turn out a good product of education for future generations.

We interviewed 18 veterans at West Park Place senior living center in Toledo, and had a large presentation with a video to show the veterans and their families. We figured Memorial Day weekend would be a wonderful time to honor our veterans, and all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
