Beck To Governor: Ohio Hemorrhages More Jobs Under Your Watch

Columbus—State Representative Peter Beck (R-Mason) today delivered a letter to Governor Strickland regarding his deep concern over the loss of 250 local jobs.

“Ohio is hemorrhaging jobs due to our state’s uncompetitive business climate,” Beck said. “Ohioans need jobs, and lawmakers should encourage the businesses that can provide those vital jobs. It is long overdue that we make Ohio economically competitive again.”

Ohio BMV stamps 1 million new plates, decides NOT to issue

Okay, so the Strickland administration decided Ohio needed a new look for our license plates. A basic design was created, Mrs. Taxin' Ted made some changes, and the design was finalized. Apparently the Ohio BMV created over 1 MILLION sets of plates, because we were going to go through a mandatory "replate". Personally I think this was a good idea, because many older plates are no longer reflective, rusty, and illegible. Most states do have some kind of mandatory replating after 5 to 10 years.

Meeting with Carty and Strickland

Rabbit57 wants to know:

I'm curious to know what happened to the meeting of Governor Strickland with Carty and other mayors of Ohio' cities affected by the downturn of the automotive industry. This was reported on local television and in The Blade. The meeting was to take place in Cleveland in April. Has anyone heard anything more about the meeting and it's outcome?

Helen Jones-Kelley quits and thank goodness

She is gone, but the taste that is left in the mouth is that Ted did not want to do anything about it. Read more:

ORP: More Jobs Lost as Strickland Plays Politics

From the Ohio GOP:

A new state unemployment report today reveals nine thousand Ohioans lost their jobs last month while Gov. Ted Strickland spent nearly every day on the campaign trail.

Ohio's unemployment rate hit 7.3 percent in October, up nearly 20 percent from a year ago and continuing to reach levels not seen in nearly 20 years.

What does it take for Strickland to fire you? A lot

As you now have already heard, Jones-Kelly was put on administrative leave and so far is not going to be fired (yet).

Here is what it takes to only get put on unpaid administrative leave:
1. Inappropriately looking up information on a citizen.
2. Lying about the reasons you are doing so to the media and the public.
3. Forcing a subordinate to write a letter to cover for you.
4. Using state resources on political campaigns.

More Joe the Plumber! Yes!

I am having Joe the Plumber witdrawl, but the Tufts Daily got me back into the swing of things with a Joe the Plumber fix. He talks about the election, about Sarah Palin, about his comments on Fox, and his potential run against Marcy Kaptur.

Get your fix at:

Also on deck today, is a potential link between Elliot Spitzer, Ted Strickland and Joe the Plumber. Read what the Salem News has to say:

Ohio must be in good shape: Governor can take almost 20% of his time campaigning for Obama

In looking at Strickland's schedule you would think things are fine and dandy in Ohio. Not only that but some high ranking members of his staff also took significant time off:

Chunk of Strickland's year spent on election

Gov. Ted Strickland spent all or part of 44 days since June 1 campaigning for presidential candidate Barack Obama and other Democrats, according to a schedule provided by his office yesterday.

Jones-Kelly not only snooped on Joe the Plumber but now raised money using state computers for Obama

Helen Jones-Kelly is put on administrative leave. It appears there was more than snooping on citizens, now she was raising money using her state e-mail account. Interesting this is released Friday evening to minimize any political fallout. I guess when you make the governor eat his words, you better watch out. The only shame is she is still being paid.

From Columbus Dispatch:

Checks on Joe the Plumber now getting more interesting. Local media looks wimpy

I sense that Helen Jones-Kelley won't have a job soon. Also, Ted Strickland will probably take a hit by saying it was not politically motivated, when it is now looking like it was. Maybe he should not be so quick to defend an obvious Obama supporter (unless he agrees). Why?

WSJ: The Self-Inflicted Economic Death of Ohio

The Wall Street Journal has taken notice of what a trainwreck this state has become, especially in the past two years:

Taming electric rates

LEGISLATION that cleared the General Assembly this past week won't prevent higher electric bills for Ohioans, but - and here's the good news - the increases won't be as great as the utilities wanted.
