Karen Shanahan fact checks Keith Wilkowski on tax abatements

You wonder why with such a documented position on these different issues, why it is only Karen Shanahan is the only one bringing them up.
First he was against it…. then he was for it. Again, Mr. Wilkowski has flip-flopped on a critical issue: how to incentivize businesses to Toledo. He was opposed to tax abatements in 1986 – 1988 when he was on the Toledo public school board, but now, when running for Mayor, he pronounces the wisdom of this policy.

That makes no sense Keith Wilkowski

From today's Blade, from yesterday's candidate forum:
“The reason that I believe raising taxes in this environment would be the absolutely wrong thing to do is that we’re going to drive people out and make our budget deficit worse,” he said.

Karen documents Keith's long history of wanting to raise taxes. One wonders if what he says now about not wanting to raise them is true or not.

Karen Shannahan fact checks Keith Wilkowski

Karen Shannahan takes issue with Keith saying he is to be credited for creating the Joint Economic Development Zone.

Mayoral Candidate Mike Bell says, "My opponent is the ultimate insider politician. He has surrounded himself with the same faces that have been in charge for years and led us to where we are today."

Web of intrigue in the mayor's race

Actually it is interesting this is a story, with everything else going on...but still it is a 21st century issue that elections must deal with. Why Keith would let the domain expire does not make sense. You should plan to keep your domain for at least 4-5 years after you stop using it because people may snap it up. Normally spammers do and sometimes what they will put up is worse than paying to keep it for 4-5 years. Doing something like this prevents any questions and image problems you may face when someone notices the site.

Block Communications purchase of Lima stations now on hold

This came up a couple of days ago, but I thought I wanted to post this. It is probably bad timing for Keith Wilkowski who was actively involved in the lawsuit. Will he have to devote time again on behalf of Block Communications? Or since he is now running for mayor, will he have to pass this time? Looks like another group wants to purchase the stations, so they filed a complaint with the FCC.
