Back in December, when the Fire Marshal was called to the Lucas County Republican Party headquarters, they actually filled out a fire inspection report and there were building violations which had to be fixed. On the report, the follow-up inspection date was written down, but in a recent informal conversation with the Toledo Fire Inspectors, the building was locked up on the day they were supposed to do a follow-up inspection and attempts to contact Jon have been unsuccessful. So why was no one there on 1/28 and why has Jon not re-scheduled a follow-up inspection? Who knows. But you would think he would want to not have this hanging around. It is probably not a good idea to avoid a follow-up report. The report is attached below.
Jon Stainbrook
Is Jon busy or is he trying to avoid the Fire Marshal?

Closure? Signature forgery decision within 30 days
We will finally hear the end of the forgery situation. There is a witness to the event and it only involved Jon and one of the Manson girls. Someone will have problems. Something will come out of it, either criminally or through the Ohio Elections Commission.

Lawyers for embattled Lucas County Republican Chairman Jon Stainbrook sought to show that the attempt to oust him was based on faulty documents and has created confusion among party members, during a hearing yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Charles Doneghy heard arguments on Mr. Stainbrook's petition for an injunction to block the attempt to remove him as chairman. The judge did not rule. He gave both sides until Wednesday to file final briefs.
Stainbrook files more motions gets delay
Paralize the judicial system with a blizard of motions is always one way to buy time. Good for you, but bad for the legitimate cases. The Blade has the latest.

New motions added to the legal wrangling over control of the Lucas County Republican Party forced another delay yesterday in determining who is the rightful party chairman.
Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Charles Doneghy delayed until tomorrow a hearing on incumbent party Chairman Jon Stainbrook's petition for an injunction against an effort to have him ousted.
Doneghy to hear Stainbrook injunction petition
Jon keeps wondering why people won't listen to him, it is because it is the Ohio Republican Party that has the ultimate authority. If you read what everyone has said, they all are saying the same thing.

The tangle of party politics and election law created by the attempt to unseat Lucas County Republican Chairman Jon Stainbrook could start to be unwound tomorrow in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
Election board not required to verify rival list
Secretary of State refuses to back Stainbrook claims on sending the list to Columbus.

The Ohio Secretary of State's Office ruled yesterday that the Lucas County Board of Elections was not required to verify the list of officers and committee members turned in by a faction of the Lucas County Republican Party seeking to oust Chairman Jon Stainbrook.
The written opinion doesn't directly address the argument Mr. Stainbrook has been using to defeat the challenge to his leadership: that the opposing group filed a "fraudulent" list of committee members.
Bates asks Ohio Secretary of State to step in into the Republican party leadership question Toledo
In the Blade:

After weeks of confusion in the Lucas County Republican Party over who’s in charge, Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates Thursday said the dispute is tying the Lucas County Board of Election in knots and asked Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to step in.
In a two-page letter to Ms. Brunner, Mrs. Bates said she’s aware of "significant irregularities in this intra-party dispute which I believe warrant your intervention." Both elected officials are Democrats.

Karl Rove met with Jeff Simpson and other area Republicans before the Lincoln Day Dinner on Jan. 21.
“Its very exciting to meet Rove and have the opportunity to sit down with him,” said Simpson, chairman of one Lucas County Republican Party faction. “This is the fun stuff, the gravy. This is why we get involved, why we go out and support candidates.”

Two stories I am not shocked to hear
1. Jon Stainbrook is violating a court agreement and refusing to sell Lincoln Day tickets to some Republicans he does not like (as heard on WSPD).
2. TPS has a 30 million dollar deficit. TPS has no fiscal controls, basically when the pot is dry they come back with a levy. They could care less about money, note 650k+ was stolen under everyone's nose, no one batted an eye. Get used to it until there are some real board members on the TPS board. It is nothing but a playpen for everyone currently on there.
Judge imposes delay in GOP battle
Lucas County Republican Chairman Jon Stainbrook won some breathing room yesterday in the fight to hold onto his position after a judge approved a 10-day freeze on the proceedings.

Latest on the Lucas County Republican Party
Wow what a day. One thing after another. Jon tries to take his battle to court, court does not fall for it. Jon Stainbrook really makes the legal system earn its money and the latest is today. Given road conditions, I did not make it until the meeting adjourned, but everyone said the meeting went well. Fox Toledo was the only news station to hang around until the end.
So onto the drama:

Is Ben Konop muscling aside competition?
People are telling me that JR Block threatened Democrat Party Chairman Redfern. Redfern was told that if Konop has an opponent in the primary everyone will suffer the consequences. Can anyone confirm this? What have you heard? JR wouldn't have done this without Konop's approval. It's despicable but I won't be surprised to learn that Konop is rigging his reelection through intimidation. And with Stainbrook's long-standing relationship with JR that our "leadership" is part of this.

Blade's Nazi reference outrageous and selectivity on steroids
As I posted yesterday, Tim Higgins was right, the reference to Nazi's in defending Jon Stainbrook is an insult to those who suffered under them and one of the weakest arguments one can use. It has to be weak when it comes to Jon. He has accomplished none and only maintains his power through fear and threats. His lack of accomplishment last election even drove other former supporters away.
