Gun Nuts Tell Other Gun Nuts to Knock It Off, They're Too Nuts

The nation’s staunchest defender of the Second Amendment has told gun activists in Texas who insist on carrying assault-style rifles in public places to knock it off.

In a statement issued late last week, the National Rifle Association (NRA) called out so-called “open carry” groups in Texas that have been frightening restaurant customers and motorists by approaching them while carrying AK-47s and AR-15s.

The NRA applauded Texas for a “robust gun culture,” but noted that a number of activists had “crossed the line from enthusiasm to downright foolishness.”

"The key here is "sporting," something ATF can define as nearly anything thanks to an extremely broad and loose definition. Back in the 1990s, President Bill Clinton issued an order just like the one Feinstein is calling for. Here's a flashback from the Los Angeles Times:
" The Clinton administration on Friday imposed an immediate ban on the importation of semiautomatic assault-type weapons until the government decides whether they have been modified to skirt U.S. restrictions on foreign-made firearms that are not suitable for "sporting purposes."

DeLauro consider to be “assault” weapons? The list is very similar to Senator Diane Feinstein’s list. According to the bill “the term ‘specified assault weapon’ means any of the following":
A) The following rifles or copies or duplicates
thereof:
