Ben Konop

"Liberals love to call themselves compassionate. So why is it their ideas so often end up with catastrophic results on the people they're intended to help"?

1. The War on Poverty
"Hatched by social engineers who cooked up President Lyndon Johnson’s "Great Society," the War on Poverty spawned a welfare mentality that has trapped the poor in a web of dependency, spent $16 trillion—without making a dent in the poverty rate—and will burn through another $10.3 trillion over the next 10 years.
Throwing good money after bad: It just doesn’t make sense.

Glass City reflections: Ben Konop shares his experiences in Toledo politics

Read our personal interest story on former Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop. Follow the link below.

He leaves, comes back to run for office, then publicly says he will leave again

He leaves, then moves to Lima area to run for office, does not win, then moves to Toledo to run for office, then causes his own downfall, decides not to run, then publicly says he is leaving the area again although he will be working for Toledo "wink wink." Even Jim Moody did not move twice just to run for office. Normally someone like that will be called a carpetbagger, but not in Toledo, he is called "creative." Welcome to Northwest Ohio!

Obama's Socialist Advisers Push Immigration Reform to "Create a Governing Coalition For the Long Term"

Why, in a time of high U.S. unemployment, is the Obama Administration seriously considering Rep. Luis Gutierrez's Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity bill which would grant citizenship to up to 20 million illegal immigrants.

The answer has little to do with humanity, national security or prosperity.

It is all about power, raw Democratic socialist power. It is all about 8,000,000 more Democratic Party votes and the creation of a governing coalition for the long term.

How Muslim world feels about Obama: disappointed

awwww how could this be not the Great and Mighty One, he is one of them....

Head's Up!

There will be a meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the McMaster Center at the Main Library downtown concerning the new form of county government being proposed by Ben Konop. I encourage everyone to attend and ask Konop a few questions about his proposal.

I blogged about it here, and for more information check Maggie Thurber's blog: Konop Forces Failed Ideas Into His County Charter Proposal

So Ben decides to quit

Ben has decided to not run for another term, citing the "old boy's network" for not allowing his agenda to work. Will he actually go away, or is this an attempt at gathering sympathy to see if he would run again. I have a feeling he wouldn't have won if he were to run again. I was going to write about what I think of Ben Konop and some of his fresh "ideas", however, I think Maggie Thurber had a good discussion of this over at her Blog, Thurber's Thoughts.

Is Ben Konop muscling aside competition?

People are telling me that JR Block threatened Democrat Party Chairman Redfern. Redfern was told that if Konop has an opponent in the primary everyone will suffer the consequences. Can anyone confirm this? What have you heard? JR wouldn't have done this without Konop's approval. It's despicable but I won't be surprised to learn that Konop is rigging his reelection through intimidation. And with Stainbrook's long-standing relationship with JR that our "leadership" is part of this.

Konop and Grossman Plead for PAID Sick Days

From the Toledo Blade Letters to the Editor: November 22, 2009

Headline: Let sick workers stay home

As a nation and a region, we are battling uniquely difficult circumstances created by a harsh economic recession and a national health emergency — the spread of the H1N1 flu.

Call it a request or a suggestion, but to avoid having one problem compound the other here in Lucas County, we’d like all workers to be able to stay home when they’re sick with the flu.

Wonkette Blog thinks Ben Konop's style is "Toledo High School President"ish

In the spirit of the Wilson interruption, Wonkette finds the Konop heckler video and wonders if Konop is running for high school president. Yes, old news, but it is interesting to see the Wonkette's observation. The Wonkette is a major DC blog and given some of the blog posts over the last 24 hrs, it seems like Max the Heckler will get another small bounce.

World’s Least-Enthused Heckler Still Manages To Ruin Toledo Candidate’s Speech

Isenberg concerned about "greater good?"

On WGTE, Carty and Sandy Isenberg discussed politics and whatnot on "Deadline Now."

It's amazing that this woman has any respect in the community to be asked to appear on the show, and why would Carty agree to appear on a program with this crook?

Ben Konop's aunt and direct connection to the "good ole boys network" then said that back in the day she and others on council used to have a certain "camaraderie" and were in it for the "greater good."

Good Lord! Did the gretaer good include a roof on her house?

The thrill of Booing Ben Konop

One citizen talks about his decision to Boo Ben. Would you do the same?

I turn to my sister and said, "Should I boo him?" We both knew that it was the right thing to do. So I rolled down the window and yelled, "Booo, Konop, booo."

Hey Ben
