Here in Toledo and Lucas County, partisan politics means party politics. You're either a Democrat or a Republican. Yes, some do wear other labels - Libertarian, independent, Green - but let's face it, the great majority of voters align with one or the other of the two major parties.
And in recent years, because only one of the two can truly call itself major, partisanship here has taken on a new dimension.
Democrats always fight with each other, of course. It is one of their most endearing qualities. However, this prolonged A-Team, B-Team split remains the Grand Canyon of political divides, and it may never go away unless the Lucas County Republican Party puts up more of a fight against the fractious but numerically superior Dems.
