While this post is typical propoganda of the original Starling02, the utter ridiculousness made me take a second look. It seems that a new member has joined us under the guise of StarlingO2. Notice the difference between the number zero and the capitalized letter "O." Whoever this new poster is, I had a good laugh. But you shouldn't hold yourself out as someone else.
I have no idea why there are 2 starling02's - I am only one.
Any clues administration? Could you figure this out & perhaps eliminate one?
But I'll be laughing for days. Congrats on giving this topic the treatment it now deserves..absurdity.

For the record - my original post on this, came from a smoker's rights website - that has a disclaimer, that says 'please feel free to use any & all articles'. So basically, anybody wanting to copy & paste the articles had been given permission to do so. So I'm not worried about copyright infringement. I also had no idea it originally was in the Onion.

Even when I disagreed with you on issues like the smoking ban, I always got the impression you were an honest, up-front person.
Your credibility on these boards is shot; please spare us any more 10,000 words posts on the smoking ban or any other damn subject.
I did NOT create a duplicate name (or fake name). I couldn't figure out what everybody was talking about, so I clicked on my user name (the only one I've ever had, and one I use, and have used, for everything for over 7 years), only to find that there IS another starling02 user name created - but I did NOT create it. I'm really annoyed that you presume I'd even bother to do that - what on earth would have been the point??? I don't hide my user name - don't even have a problem using my real name (as long as the rest of you do) - I have nothing to hide, and don't need a fake name to hide behind. (And if I was going to create a fake name, don't you think I'd create one that is DIFFERENT than the one I have?) I have no idea how or why a second starling02 showed up. (maybe administration just likes me so much they wanted more of me?)
It occurs to me - that IF I HAD tried to create an extra user name that was identical to my user name, it would have been rejected - I'd have been told via the registry - that a user by that name was already in use. Don't believe me? Try to create a user name on ANY board the same as the one you already have. (I know this, because I'm great at forgetting passwords, or was, till I started using generic passwords so as not to forget - and tried to re-log into Victoria's Secret, only to be told that "that user name is already in use", or words to that effect. Same with Amazon & Columbia Gas.
Someone created the username StarlingO2 (with the letter O, not the number 0) a day and 21 hours ago as of this writing and posted the Iowa story.

I assumed it was a parody. But nothing would surprise me anymore. At any rate - I honestly have no idea how or why a second user name connected to me appeared. I've been with TT & swampbubbles for some time now, and have posted far worse than this (as far as riling people up) - I've managed to hold my own (or at least, not cry) when people do jump my shit, so there's really no reason for me to create a fake identity. Why would I do that - especially one identical to mine? Makes no sense. IF I was going to create a different identity - I'd choose one that nobody could connect to ME. But even I know that my IP address would give it away to administration, and I always assumed that no online blogs or forums let you have duplicate ID's (but I admit I'm not that computer educated to know - just an assumption on my part.). At any rate - I'm sure there are some who won't believe me anyway - I can't help that. As I said - when Columbia Gas wouldn't accept my password, I couldn't recall if I'd even registered with them (been a while since I tried to access them online - and I have problems with utilities online for some reason, not accepting my passwords, or allowing me to change passwords. When I tried to just re-register, they refused me, said somebody by the user ID of starling02 was already registerd (that'd be ME). Therefore, I can't pay my gas bill online - I got tired of dealing with it. I assumed that was typical of online anything. Regardless - why on earth would I feel I had to hide NOW? That's just doesn't make any sense.

So Starling, you admit to creating a user name which is different, but very similar to yours, the ask the administrator to do something about it, and then claim that this is something you posted because you think it will become so extreme. So you admit to creating a screename which was clearly meant to mock you? Lay off the coke.

It certainly looked like you were saying that you posted the original post to this thread, which is why people thought that you were the one behind the fake starling name.
No. Posting the first few paragraphs from an article is fair use, posting it in its entirety (without permission) is copyright infringement. Also, whoever posted could have at least given a link back to The Onion, the site where the article originated.
This thread, while hilarious, is theft. And considering how often that members include entire articles in their posts, it's only a matter of time before the webmaster starts receiving cease and desist orders (if he hasn't already).
