Okay Teabaggers, why is there an Impeach Obama booth out front of the Oregon Kroger

Seriously. You have now lost the ability to say that Dems are making it all up.

Deadline passes

Michigan's inept union leadership missed the July 7th deadline to get a referendum on the November ballot to permanently repeal the state's right to work law. You would have thought that with the rep of being home to the unions, and a union state that they could have gotten the required 322,609 signatures but they didn't. They got zero, they rolled over and played dead.

NRCC busted for making fake websites

The National Republican Campaign Committee has created fake news sites about House candidates, presumably to take advantage of readers who don't pay close attention to what news sources they read, National Journal reported.

Earlier this year, the NRCC got in some trouble for creating deceptive fake campaign sites for Democrats that ask people to contribute in order to help "defeat" the candidate.

Teacher Fired Over Namecalling Her Students, Might Be Reinstated

I'm betting she will be rehired. I don't have a dog in this fight, but the issue is still, did she REALLY do anything worthy of being fired over? In a union setting, the grievance procedure has to be followed, and one cannot skip steps, which seems to have happened here.

City of Toledo Environmental Service Department - Where Are You?

The City of Toledo has an Environmental Services Department that employs more than thirty people, yet we never heard a peep out of them during the water crisis. Ohio EPA has an office in Bowling Green that was involved in the crisis. What was the City of Toledo's Environmental Services Department doing? I have an idea. Maybe they were too busy having one of their daily potlucks or tanning themselves next to their rain garden.

Mayor: It's somebody else's fault

The Blade waits until the very last paragraph of this lengthy story to give readers the most jarring remark by Mayor Collins, that directors (he used the plural) of public utilities are "political hacks." He doesn't name names and the editors apparently didn't press him to do so, but it's obvious that Ed Moore, a good and decent man, is being set up as a scapegoat. My guess is that the mayor and the editors are colluding, doing a little set-up work to justify future attacks on selected employees in the water division.

Obama Sure Got This One Right!

He referred to Mrs. Bill Clintons', and others' remarks as HORSE S-word!

Erin Brockovich talks about Toledo's water issues

Erin Brockovich knows a thing or two about tainted water. The case she helped to build against Pacific Gas and Electric's contamination of the water supply in Hinkley, California was portrayed in a movie that starred Julia Roberts playing Brockovich.

Brockovich has shared her views on Toledo's recent water problems, as well as how Mayor Collins handled it (link on next page).

Not easy being green #453

The Scottish government has commissioned a report into the health effects of wind farms at 10 sites across the country, following concerns that many people may be suffering from the effects of infrasound emitted from the turbines.
The Sunday Express reports that campaigners are concerned that the low frequency sounds produced may be causing people living nearby to suffer headaches, nausea, insomnia, dizziness and raised blood pressure.

Maybe I Should Become A Democrat

I'd like to be able to afford 100K for a three week vacation. And since I'm still a dues paying member of the UAW(for 46 years now), I'm actually entitled hang out in the Hamptons.

When Did Collins Know About Potential Water Problems?

The 13abc I-Team has uncovered a letter from the Ohio EPA showing concerns about the city's water system dated in June.

The letter warns the city about the lack of progress being made to improvements at Toledo's Public Water System, in particular the Collins Park Water Treatment Plant.

It goes on to say the plant is vulnerable to potential failures that could severely impact the city's ability to provide enough safe water to its citizens.

Public utilities director has questionable past

Prior to last weekend, probably most of us had never seen nor heard of Edward Moore, director of Toledo's Department of Public Utilities.  We found out all too well the important role that this man plays in making our lives comfortable.  We put a lot of trust in the person who holds that position.

Well, there is an interesting story behind Moore.  During the Bell administration, Moore was the director of the City's Department of Public Service.  When Collins became mayor, he replaced Moore with William Franklin.  Replacing Moore, who is African American, added to the heat that Collins took for not appointing enough minorities to high-level positions.  In a December 16, 2013, Blade article, Collins explained that he had nothing against Moore, but he needed to have "people in positions that I have confidence in."

Collins' choice for the director of Public Utilities, Robin Whitney, served for four months before leaving to take a job with ProMedica.

So what does Collins do?  He appoints the person who he previously did not have enough confidence in to retain in the Public Service position, as the new director of Public Utilities.

And there's more.

Site problems

Hi everyone, the last 24 hrs have been rough for this site, but since I have not done anything, I suspected it was the host. The host has provided some more information. Apparently this site is hosted on a group of sites that included one dealing with political content relating to the conflicts between Israel and Palestine. One of the groups decided to instigate a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on the Web site that is affecting this site. While that site has been neutralized, it is still affecting the host.
