'No guns allowed here' placards in local stores and malls

'No guns allowed here' placards in local shops and mall -

It is an unfortunate reality that our society has its course and
raw side. Some individuals choose to feed their dark side on the
internet as did the young shooter in Colorado . National and local
media , including this newspaper, should start a policy of not
publishing the picture or posting the name of future mass murderers, or
those from the past.

Recent events in Colorado and Nebraska show that well intended 'no
guns here' signs in store windows accomplish nothing. Shooters pay no
attention to them .
I was chatting with a sheriff deputy at a recent basketball game. He
leaves his firearm home when he goes out shopping. He puts himself at
risk when he does this- many of the local criminals know him because he
works at the jail too.
So these stores are disarming our law enforcement officers ,
putting us all at risk. I will be talking to store owners about this
when I shop. The crime rates of deputies as well as concealed carry permit holders is very low. These law abiding citizens go out of
their way to protect all of us. Business owners should trust them to do
that.

Everyone is out shopping. I give you a "Yeahs"

I guess I was wrong but I always thought that police officers/sheriff's had to carry 24/7, that they were, by virtue of their officer status exempt from the "no guns allowed" rule.
