Hopefully this means that some teaching positions will be added. On the high school level, there needs to be additions to the foreign language deparptment (at least return French and German to Scott, Libbey, and Woodward). Additions to honors/AP/PSO offerings would be appreciated by teachers, students, and parents at all the high schools.
The $18.2 million carry-over pales in comparison to the $144.7 deficit at the end of 2011-12. That is only five years away. Is this deficit built in (such as pay for retired teachers), or is it a projection based on something that might happen? I think we should be looking at a way to prepare for this instead of pie-in-the-sky. If the deficit is rock-solid then changes have to be made. Otherwise changes will be forced on us, and we won
