Mayor praises passage of city income tax renewal

"Mayor Finkbeiner's proposed budget depends on $4.8 million to be collected from the trash fee this year."

"The mayor's budget is tight. It calls for a total reduction in city
staffing of about 52 full-time positions, including three out of the
mayor's 22nd-floor staff."

"The budget also cuts the number of routes that refuse collectors would
work from 33 to 27, which will add 60 to 90 minutes to workers' work
day but still have them working within an eight-hour day.

Mr. Finkbeiner's budget bases its projection for growth in income tax
revenues at a cautious 2.5 percent above 2007 - slightly less than the
growth rate of 2007 over 2006."

somehow he forgot to mention the INCREASE in funding for lawsuits our mayor has against himself. i'm so glad we are paying for his legal messes.

forgot to mention that, with the new split/breakout of this tax money the CIP money (pretty lights, flowers and signs) increases while the general fund takes approx. a $ 10 mil. hit.

Now just how do you think that he's going to make up that outright theft into his favorite project fund???

And, how long can our Council resist pressure to continue that "temporary" garbage fee that was supposed to go away, before caving in to the mayor. I'm betting that it becomes permanent, unless it is determined to be illegal.

Thanks to Karen Shanahan, the mayor may be forced to refund that money, which would put "His Dishonor" into a very, very deep hole, where he should be, IMNHO.
