OS ANGELES (Reuters) - All Michael Buday wanted to do was take the last name of his wife, Diana Bijon, when they married.

But it took two years, a lawsuit alleging sex discrimination and a change in California law before he picked up his new drivers license in the name of Michael Bijon on Monday.

"It was personal. I feel much closer to (Diana's) father than I do mine. She asked me to take her name and I thought it would be very simple. I never imagined the state would make it so difficult," Michael Bijon, 31, told reporters.

He discovered it would take a $350 fee, court appearances, a public announcement and mounds of paperwork to make a change on his driving license that is routine for women who marry.

After months of frustration, the Los Angeles computer programmer and his ER nurse wife Diana, 29, took their problem to the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California...........................................

how many men on here would take their wife's name?

el Littlered has a nice ring to it.

I mean, of course, if we would ever get hitched.

But I don't think that will happen. Not in the near future.

How about el Starling ? Now THAT has a catchy ring to it.

What say you, Clarice ?

I briefly enjoyed my time here. I tried to make a point now and then. Most often I went for humor, often the self-deprecating kind. We all should be able to laugh at ourselves. But there is too much anger and maliciousness here. And there is too much sickness, as evidenced by el mahico's posts. You folks enjoy yourselves. I'm signing off. And may all of you be blessed, even el mahico.

It's been fun reading your colorful and insightful comments. I am sorry that you let the trolls upset you to the point where you no longer feel you can contribute to the site.

I think your brand of humor was lost on many and there were other times you may have tried 'too hard.' Humor is great, but if all your posts try to go for the home run, there are those who simpy won't know how to take you or where you really stand on a topic.

Hope you stop back, though. I thought you added a unique perspective to SB.

I guess I will leave my photoshop work to Fark.com. Sorry if I insulted you. cheers, you will be missed.

don,

i'm really sad to hear you say you are leaving. i really enjoy picking on you and reading your posts. you didn't mind when i picked on Penelope the pinto, and the race we had on glendale was a lot of fun.it was a pretty close race between penolope and my mustang, you were so close, the video showed it. i'm always up for a rematch if you want to try your pink scooter instead. i enjoyed the little fight we had at macy's over red stilettos. i'll let you borrow them if you stay on. :) yeah, you called me out for working for the fbi, but that's ok, i already sent your report to Washington. haven't you noticed all the unmarked cars following you?:) you have a great sense of humor, and are a smart man. you bring a lot of joy to this site, and i really wish you will reconsider.

But that was the OLD el mahico that got under your skin....

Stay tuned......

For the 'New & Improved' el Mahico.

Much less abrasive.

We wouldn't be able to tolerate each other el mahico. Also, I'm unavailable for marriage.

I did not mention marriage. I was staying on topic and merely suggested how catchy "el Starling" might sound.

Besides, you gave me the sizes, the gifts are purchased for next Christmas. Remember....

Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

I may be more dense than I realized, but I honestly didn't see what was said on this thread (or anywhere, recently) that was offensive, to the point of being intolerable. I hope you stop back don - you will be missed, I enjoyed your comments & insights. The trolls seem to focus on a small few users, and if those users can ignore or tolerate the trolls comments, then they shouldn't be a problem for anybody else. But I understand how some of the nastiness & trollness can get to you after a while. Maybe take a small time out? I've done that a couple of times, just recently in fact.
