Am I the only one who wonders how with three news stations and a zillion dollars in sophisticated electronic radar equipment the weather forecasters are less than fifty percent correct in their predictions? We usually get Chicago's weather twenty four hours later. Maybe a call to Chicago would be more accurate and cost less.

...and not to go off on a tangent, but it really makes me wonder - if we can't get our daily weather correct, how are we supposed to make good predictions about the impact of global warming? Overall, I think we're just better off being prepared for anything when it comes to weather...
channel 13 was doing it's morning weather, saying that we weren't going to get any warmer than it was at that time, which was 64- a couple of hours later it was 76 and was sunny most of the day, the kids across the street had their pool out. When she said it I knew she'd be wrong, I was like HUH??? Ultimately it did cool off in the evening, as most evenings do... LOL!!
The 7 day forecast is a total joke, we should start a pool for who can guess the weather in 7 days, we could be right as much as Stan or Blizzard Bill!
On toledo talk he was bitching about how horrible WSPD's coverage of the weather was - he was caught in deadlock traffic (in toledo? another chuckle) and in a hailstorm and WSPD wasnt talking about the weather...
Im of a mind that when those little white balls are banging off your car roof? It's HAILING!! I dont need to have Brian Wilson tell me about it!!
Seriously tho, I use this site in my work. It's a pretty good one:

Has anyone called Chicago lately?
Where is Charlie Umpenhour when you need him?
I abhor local news. It's so disgustingly sacchrine.
What local news I do get is from their websites, The Blade, and Public Broadcasting, the latter being most common. I'm not sure if it's unique to their broadcast, but they often say things like "100% chance of rain" AS IT'S RAINING.
stepping outside or looking out the window, where I also have a large outdoor thermometer on the tree. There's no point in watching the forecast any more. It's simply laughable to me-my Grandfather worked at the old airport, and sent up weather baloons. They used all that primitive equipment back then, and they were usually dead on, at least 90% of the time.
Today, you have to go to school for it, and they have supposed 'sophisticated'computerized equipment costing gazillions of dollars, yet ....ridiculous. The Farmer's Almanac gets it right more than the 'professional' weather people do today.

BRING THE TROOPS HOME-NOW!
Why should one more drop of our soldiers blood be spilled on foreign soil? Why fight/die for 'freedom' anymore when our citizens are pissing it away at the voting booth?
It's windy.

Long term trends are easier to spot than short term variations are to predict.
Off the top of my head I thought of an analogy to a waitress. She might not be able to predict her daily take with any accuracy, but if she's been doing it for a few years she'll be able to know with some certainty how much she can make in a year.
