The Toledo Police Patrolman's Association has endorsed Judge Mike Goulding in his effort to retain his seat on the bench at Toledo Municipal Court. The TPPA endorsement, together with the endorsement of the Toledo Police Command Officers' Association which was annouced last week, clearly demonstrate that Judge Goulding's record as a judge has earned him the respect of the local law enforcement community. Judge Goulding's campaign theme - Keep Our City Safer - resonates with the public, labor unions, and law enforcement.
"I believe that a hard-working, well run, and efficient court can make a real impact and can indeed help to keep our community safer. Cracking down on limitless continuances, being available to attorneys and police not only during court hours, but also on evenings and weekends, and providing an opportunity for victims of crime to address the court at sentencing all serve this end. It's not just a campaign slogan - it's the way I actually run my court," the judge said.
In addition to the TPPA and Command Officers' endorsements, Judge Goulding has also been endorsed by Fire Fighters' Local 92, the Ohio Civil Service Employees' Association, and the International Union of Elevator Contractors. More endorsements to be announced soon.
Judge Goulding is running for a six-year term this November 6, 2007.
Judge Mike Goulding, welcome to the web. We're glad to have our local leaders in our little piece of the univers. There are a couple of netiquet things to learn:
First rule of posting club: DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS. Its considered rude.
Second rule of posting: Link to your sources. Otherise you sound someone pulling facts out of your... ear. If you have a personal campaign website and/or blog, why not post a link to it in a follow up comment? If you need some help setting one up I'll be glad to help you set one up.
Again, glad to have you in our piece of digital real estate.
A common format many use for Press Releases uses capital letters as opposed to the difference in how that is viewed from a netiquette standpoint. Many of the press releases I receive that I put on Glass City Jungle have the title line in capital letters.
Same with most press releases when it comes to linking, though I agree that's a good suggestion the majority of candidates when they are sending out a release do not link their campaign websites.
For those interested, Judge Michael Goulding's website is:

Odd creatures that they are - typically the first line or two is always in caps. Then the body in normal text. I think it has something to do with the old wire service - that way they knew where to start and stop.
And they are always written in the third person - I do not have any idea how that started? Maybe one of the history buffs knows the story behind this.
Judge Mike Goulding, welcome to the web. We're glad to have our local leaders in our little piece of the univers (sic)
Are you sure that this is actually a "local leader" since the poster refers to Mr Goulding in the third person for the entire post?
I suppose its not a huge issue but if the poster is part of his campaign and not actually the man himself I, personally would like to know that and he should perhaps adjust his name to reflect that.
If it is infact Mr Goulding then I'd like to see him actually post, to read his reasons why he should be my choice and not just a cut and paste of from his campaign site.
I received the same press release from him, which I put on Glass City Jungle, so obviously his intention was to post here to share the press release that was sent out on his receiving the endorsement. I do believe he has done this in the past and recently Chris Myers just did the same exact thing when he posted his press release on getting the endorsement from the Toledo Board of Realtors. It was also written in a third person format, as are many press releases. The goal is an FYI type thing so that people are aware of the endorsements...
