How are your streets?

Tagged:  •

Well my street hasn't been touched yet by a snowplow. How about yours? Even though temps were above freezing today it just seemed to make it worse. It's all slushy now which should be fun once temps reach freezing again tonight. I tried calling Streets, Bridges and Harbors today but since it was a holiday I didn't get an answer. Not even an answering machine. I know that since I live on a residential street, it would take awhile for the plows to reach us. But shouldn't they have been here at least ONCE by now?

Mine doesnt get plowed by the city. It's dead end with no room for a plow to turn around. A neighbor with a pickup and a blade has subcontracted with the city to do our street.

He had to get a yellow light for the roof and a salter for the back.

My street was plowed Wednesday Night after the BIG BLAST but nothing since then. It was not a regular City plow but rather a private sub-contractor with a small dump truck and a plow. Backup alarms woke me up at 3:00 in the morning but I was still thankful for the effort.

East toledo, mine was acually plowed twice.

... is at risk of exposure to Carty, it was plowed rather soon and thoroughly. Still, I found the AWT and I75 were quickly handled, although I nearly spun out on the AWT-I75 entrance ramp the next morning after the last of the 6-inch dump fell, which was not cleared. Lesson learned!

I live down the street from a school (west Toledo), so we're usually taken care of early on. I did notice that a lot of the other streets around here were in terrible shape, not for lack of a plow, but for lack of off-street parking to allow the plows to get through.

The plows have come thru twice but only got one side of the street, (and didn't do that great of a job) sidewalks still not shoveled, piles at the end of the alley which necessitates walkers to have to go out into the street and I was disgusted to see that even the crosswalk at the elementary school was not shoveled completely just a small spot. With today with some of the melting has created a huge puddle you have to either walk thru or try to climb the snow mountains. On three sides of the street you can not even get to the button to activate the crosswalk signal.

since I'm typing this at 3 in the morning, it's turned into a
skating rink. That's the one bad problem when the weather first begins to break-it thaws in the day, then refreezes at night, over and over. I only went out for a rallyburger and then a 'gourmet'coffee at the gas station, used the 4-wheel drive, when I got back home, I parked as close to the door as I could get. Solid sheet of ice in the drive now.

Fire off e-mails about the sidewalks, streets, etc. to: CCHall3@ci.toledo.oh.us

Neighborhoods Deparment complaint desk. The manager of the department has told me that the complaints are tracked and acted on.

So if we submit the complaints someone will, eventually, get the point that something is not quite right.

I called and was told that they would send someone out but I told them that the snow had almost melted away. But it was rough before it started to melt!

Airport/Reynolds area. All is clear. Nice to see it go above freezing for the 1st time in almost a month. Had to have a plumber out last week due to frozen drains. That's only the second time that's ever happened.
I;m ready to see the crocuses blooming, myself. Damned groundhog, I suspect, was bullshitting us.

I live off Heatherdowns in the Ragan Woods area and our streets are all plowed. I must say that Toledo and Maumee do a great job clearing our streets. I have lived in this town for a long time and i can say that is one division in our city that deserves our accolades.
