Baboons are not fooled so easily.
A ' temporary ' tax that lasts over 25 years will not get by us again. As baboons, we demand accountability.
Downsize the city budget to fit the income...and start from the bottom up. First to go should be the flowers, unnecessary signage, etc. The last to be cut should be police, fire, and refuse collection.
yeah but the problem is.. its not that simple! the police and fire will 100% be affected by this.
for 'oh hell no'?
I don't appreciate the current funding process. I don't think our police and fire dept's are well funded. I think the police cars need to be replaced. I'm not sure what the fire houses need, but given the way money is spent around here - I am very sure there are many needs.
As soon as lights, flowers, signs, showers, jogging paths, etc. etc. are not the main focus we could discuss this 3/4%. But I'm not happy with the fiscal conduct and I say pinch 'em till it hurts and they're willing to talk about outlining some real priorities. Sorry to fire and police dept's, but sometimes you need to get people's attention.
... but I can just buy that effete bottled stuff at Kroger's. It will save on taxes.
...concealed weapons. If it good for universities it should be good for the streets of Toledo. We'll only know if this works when the majority of mentally balanced citizens walk the streets armed. Then maybe we can "take a bite out of crime". Cops are great for catching the bad guys after a crime, they do little to prevent crime.
What do you do to stop them from taking police and fire away?
Isnt the water bill you pay suppose to keep the water clean?
Dottie
Schools and cities use the same tactic. If this levy doesn't pass then we will cut all sports, band, and bus routes. If this levy does not pass we will cut both police and fire. Well.....fail the levy. Make the city and schools start doing some fiscal budgeting and accountability. When they come back with what they really need and it is communicated effectively, then pass their amended levy. Until then, these current levies are wants, not needs.
Bottom line, police and fire will not be cut. Carty's too proud of the low crime rate in his city and it looks good on his resume.
He's got one foot in the grave. What does he need a resume for ???
Vote NO. You will have more money to put into the economy. The avg. Toledoen would save over $ 487.00 each and every year !
Taxes Are Like Drugs, Just Say NO !
