MaumeeMom, I was going to post something about it, but something came up. Enjoy the song. I like it and I think the message is great.
I will post a summary of stats soon. I have watched the site grow from 150 daily unique visits to almost 1000 and I expect the growth to continue. 2008 should be a really great year with the presidential election. Yes we are not as big as the Blade or WTOL, but you have to start somewhere. I am trying to maintain a level of transparency here good or bad. This means by showing the reads and the hall of fame and not tinkering with them. You should see the site increase in popularity as the number of reads increases as well as the numbers in the hall of fame.
This site was established with a high degree of tolerance for what is discussed. And I plan to keep it that way. Of course using it for personal attacks is wrong, as some users have done. But most of the posts and comments have been about the news, events, and politics that affect the area.
I have found that if you run a site like this it is a double edge sword to be easily contacted. I have been contacted about things discussed here by a particular media outlet, a local governmental entity, and some others. Of course I say the same thing to them. This does not make things easy. I have had about 7 days of this past year ruined because of issues on this site, worrying about effects of items posted here or whether or not something should be posted/pulled or what are my legal obligations. But that goes with the territory.
The hall of fame gives a good snapshot of how things are right now. Some of the most popular items are for good reason. Some of the other popular items, I wish were not popular and are popular for the wrong reasons. I have been particularly troubled by some of the ones at the top of the list, but if I edited them or removed them the numbers would not have meaning. Eventually they will work their way off.
But thanks to everyone, thanks to JR and to all those who have contributed.
