Griffin, Daugherty, Morehead hire attorney

"The three central figures in discrimination complaints against Toledo

Your rating: None

From what I know of this case, I find it completly absurd. I'm no fan of Carty and he can certainly be called a lot of things, but racist isn't one of them.

Matt Holdridge
The Toledo Tattler

"...fired, laid off and demoted..."

Wow, didn't realize he could do all three.

I wonder if the attorney knows that others with more schooling of different races were laid off as well??? With identical jobs to at least one of the people mentioned in this suit??? His lay offs knew no color lines. She had better do her homework!

Obviously this person (gotoledogo) hasn't done their homework, and letting some preconceived notion that college educated minorities are less educated than people of other races and colors.

It is obvious that more people in this world need diversity training. Try some, then you will understand why Carty is truly is a racist.

Where would you like to start? As I have stated before, if you can't wrap your mind around the fact that the mayor is racist at least can you admit that he has unhealthy relationships with black people?

I think Toledo could use some Diversity training.

I have lived in Washington DC, Philly, New York and Central Ohio as well as Toledo. Of all the places I have lived, both blacks and whites are the most racially intolerant in Toledo. Your are right, Toledo needs diversity training if the City wants to move ahead and prosper.

Because he fired a black woman? If it were a black man firing a white woman is that racism too? Seriously, on what basis, other than the difference in race, does this situation make Carty a racist?

No, I can't. Firing a black woman does NOT constitute having an unhealthy relationship with black people. The white nazi group that marched in Toledo have an unhealthy relationship with black people, and are down right racist, and they are true assholes. Carty firing a black woman, alongside some white people, does not make him a racist. I think your fishing for something that's not there. I need something a bit more definitive.

You obviously don't know that Carty pays blacks a lot less money for performing the same job that a white employee performs and he constantly blurts out racial, ethnic and gender slurs. He is also excellent at keeping whites and blacks squabbling with each other. He definitely believes in divide and conquer. If it walks like a duck, sounds like duck and looks like a duck, it must be a duck.

The real issue is not that he fired a black woman. The real issue is that he fired this woman because she ruled that two woman had been abused by high ranking managers and she wouldn't cover it up. When she wouldn't succumb to Carty's pressure to change her ruling, he demoted her. When she refused to be demoted, Carty fired her. My friend, there are incompetent people in all ethnic groups, but this isn't one of them. This was an attempt on Carty's part to violate city, state and federal laws, and he succeeded. It's called retaliation.

"If it walks like a duck, sounds like duck and looks like a duck, it must be a duck."

Well.. you, sir, certainly are a quack, so I guess you'd know all about ducks, wouldn't you?

If what you're saying is true (and I have serious doubts) then Carty fired her not because she's black, but because she didn't help him in whatever cover-up he was purportedly trying to devise.

That would make him corrupt, not racist, wouldn't it?

Good luck with your attorney, though. I think you'll need it. Carty is resilient.

I lived in Toledo for over sixty years and Toledo is full of ducks of all races and orientations. And, yes, I quack sometimes. The key to a great society is tolerance. You don't have to like everybody, just respect them.

Both.

If you really get into the details of what is going on you'll see that there is a systemic pattern of discrimination toward all minorities and women in Toledo City government. Its mind boggling that the Ohio Civil Rights Commission has determined that City of Toledo Government is 40 years behind cities of its size and stature in the United States.
