I think the Lucas County Republican party is like North Korea, making a stink to let everyone know we still exist :) Of course I am joking. So the controversy is: was the letter, which according to the Blade, appears to have been posted after public closing time, did it make the 5-day deadline? Being it is reported it was posted at 4:42, is the closing time 4:30 or 5 or 5:30? Good question. Who knows? What I know was the post card announcing the meeting was in my mailbox Tuesday, which means it was put in the mail on Monday or over the weekend. I also know the party is required by law to have the meeting so many days after certification of the election so I don't know if this factored in to the Saturday date or not.
Jon Stainbrook who, if you do a Google search will find some band stuff, but a mainly record of lawsuits (Staind, Toledo Free Press, Lucas County BOE to name 3), will he bring a lawsuit against the party? Also, what if the court does not rule by Saturday? And what if the vote is contested? I think the decision on Saturday won't be final especially with the all the pending issues.
I did think it was funny that Jon said that the 9am meeting time was "held at 9 a.m. to try to knock out as many of my people as they can." Well if they are dedicated volunteers they will get there on Saturday and be on time. I don't see what the concern is.
I have made my opinions known. Jon may have some legitimate issues, but he is going about it the wrong way and I it appears with the secret video taping, the appearance of vindictiveness by targeting certain Republicans, and the coming out of nowhere that I don't think that he has earned my vote. Actually the secret videotaping is what made me decide that he does not have the leadership skills right now. Maybe if he works with everyone and demonstrates the leadership and honesty a chair needs I may reconsider. But now that won't happen.
So we will see, I will be there Saturday. I will post a report when I return.
