Troy Neff Show: It’s not clear to the Mayor what a local radio station wants

This week Mayor Finkbeiner discusses the intermodal, TPS, and the productivity awards given to three local plants.

Mayor Finkbeiner Interview

WTOL not backing down on intermodal

WTOL Bob Chirdon responds to Carty wanting to educate him:

Mayor Finkbeiner, you don't have the right to hold development in northwest Ohio hostage. Stop trying to make this such a one-sided bargain.

Intermodal Presentation

You are invited to attend a viewing of Brian McMahon's presentation on Intermodal Possibilities for Northwest Ohio Thursday June 12th at 7pm. Room 100 in the Health Education Building on the University of Toledo Health Science Campus has been reserved. Seating is limited to app. 150 so plan on arriving early. A question and answer session will follow the short presentation.

Carty's Committee

I must be in a good mood, because I had a lot of chuckles today. Don't you think it is funny when Carty says he wants to form a committee to study the Intermodal? First that says, he is not an expert on intermodals and needs to assemble some, which means why is saying some place is better than another? Who is he going to assemble who has not talked in the Free Press or on WSPD?

Carty says Brian McMahon's allegations are nothing but "B period S period"

"Just sign a piece of paper that has falsely been alleged to be languishing on my desk for two years - that was, and is, unadulterated B-period, S-period, - and thousands of jobs will come our way." Carty said yesterday in the Blade.

The problem Brian McMahon's having with Intermodal that nobody's talking about

Here's a question for you. If someone had a great idea that would bring new business and jobs to the area, but Carty just flat out didnt like the guy, would Carty stand in his way even knowing full well that his stance would be detrimental to the area??

And to tie two threads together // Brian Schwartz and the Intermodal issue

As Mayoral bootlicker, Brian Schwarz never had too much positive to say about the intermodal, ex:

until McMahon presents an end user for the property, the mayor doesn't see an immediate need to sign off on the easement, said Brian Schwartz, Finkbeiner's spokesman.

Editorials support the Intermodal - yet silence from City leaders

Everyone seems lining up in favor of the intermodal. The silence coming from City Council and the Mayor's office is quite deafening. When will Toledo's leaders take proactive action and begin to pave the way for this? They sure took action to say they did not want the State to take money away from the Turnpike. Why is there an odd silence coming from the City leadership on this issue?

Fred's Friday Frenzy On 1370 WSPD

Friday morning an exclusive interview with James Hartung, President Toledo/Lucas County Port Authority on the intermodal facility and his vision for Toledo Express. No one else has had the line up of experts on this topic that WSPD has had and if you need to catch up there are podcasts at www.wspd.com

Toledo Express Airport overhaul could boost area as shipping hub

Second of two parts

Twenty years ago, Forth Worth was in a similar spot as Toledo.

Fort Worth's chief industry - the U.S. military - had left town and elected leaders were looking for another industry to support the medium-sized city on the outskirts of Dallas.

Metro area ripe for shift into global trade portal

Local officials and developers have preached the same sermon for years: The Toledo area is ideally situated to become a major freight distribution center for the northeastern United States and southern Canada.

#1 Morning Talk Show 1370 WSPD To Host Martinko

Thursday morning I will be speaking with Richard Martinko P.E. on the topic of an Intermodal facility in our region. Mr. Martinko was at the meeting earlier this week with the Port Authority, WSPD, WTOL, and developer Brian McMahon where the need for this type of facility was discussed.

40 Yards of Pipe for 3000 Jobs? Hardly.

Intermodal freight transportation is exploding around the country and Northwest Ohio is well-placed and well-equipped to handle cargo for the tri-state area. However, we need to be smart about how we encourage development around resources like Toledo Express. Governmental agencies like the Port Authority are working to entice logistics companies into building intermodal terminals at TOL, but they also must determine which development prospects are practical and which proposals will only drain the area's limited infrastructure improvement budget. After reviewing Brian McMahon's proposal, I feel it qualifies as the latter for the following reasons.

Intermodal Update And Some Answers

I had the pleasure of speaking this morning with a number of people actively involved in the intermodal project that is a vision for Toledo Express. I went back and pulled some of handbanana's questions because he seemed a little unsure of how all this would work and confused about the process.

Fred LeFebvre of WSPD With Brian Mcmahon On Intermodal Facility

This morning on the most listened to talk show in Northwest Ohio Brian McMahon laid out the reasons an intermodal facility for this area is critical. Thousancs of jobs and millions of dollars await this area if the constant bickering between city-county-township can be set aside.

#1 Morning Talk Show On WSPD To Host Brian McMahon

Thursday morning Brian McMahon of Danberry Realty will be my guest to discuss recent developements the WSPD News Department has uncovered regarding property near Toledo Express. For the last two years at least I have suggested as have others that we should look at an intermodal facility at the airport.
