Marcy is demanding answers on the ethics leak - according to the Hill

Marcy is demanding "a full accounting" of the leak showing she was brought before the ethics committee about her connections with the disgraced PMA Group. Why not?

Was the residency requirement the real reason Brian Schwartz resigned?

Yesterday, Brian Schwartz filed a lawsuit against the City for wrongful termination based upon the City of Toledo residency requirements.

In the filing posted on this site, you will see the different reasons and the history he lays out regarding why he was terminated even detailing a letter he received from the City in April of 2008 saying he was not compliant with the residency requirement.

Before and during Brian's time as the Mayor's spokesperson, he was a frequent poster

Kaptur: Give me liberty or give me death - Is this a joke?

I can not believe Marcy is saying that squandering our money is a problem, Ms. 3 Billion Dollar Woman. She says our financial dependence on foreign governments concerns her, but she is a part of the problem. Does she actually hear the words coming out of her mouth? This is unbelievable. What a hypocrite. What not a perfect example of the problems with Washington and how we have just some of the biggest idiots there. Oh I am complaining about our reliance on foreign governments for money, but oh how are we going to pay for my 3 billion dollar bribe? How can a Congresswoman stand here and actually have the brains to say this when she is a part of the problem? They are all brainless-brainless indeed. Welcome to the United States and we put these people here. God help us.

Ok, I am worried for James Damas’ health - Update

Ok, in going over the finance reports, I noticed something strange. The signature for James Damas (Lucas County Republican Party treasurer) has changed 4 times over the past year and *sort of* settling on a soft sharpie signature for Jan 2009.

Let The Fun Begin

Well, the Toledo Political Season is officially here. The sniping, sign stealing, lying, etc. If you examine each candidates staff's you'll find some interesting characters. What I find most interesting is how many of Carty's cronies are working with the Mike Bell Campaign. Is there a message we are seeing? Konop is recruiting very young, inexperienced people like himself to run his campaign. I quess people over forty don't matter in Toledo anymore. Is Collins going to be another Frank Rizzo? He's already been accused of double dipping. Will Moody have time to be Mayor?

Where is the other $20,673 Jon?

In the expose on corruption and vestiges of the Lucas County Republican Party mini-series that ran on Sunday and Monday of this week had a very interesting proclamation by Jon Stainbrook. In the article “Old guard 'left us broke'; Look at books raising more questions” it said:

“Mr. Stainbrook said he has raised nearly $50,000 in cash and in-kind contributions since taking the party reins last year.”

Ben Konop heckled at press conference

If you did not see this, check it out. Ben Konop was heckled at his press conference over the weekend. What do you think about what the heckler was saying? I thought it was Tom Morrisey at first :) Thats fair...

The Marina District will have a major breakthrough on Friday? - Update

The details of the deal are even better than what was heard earlier this past week. Read more about it n the Blade today:

Toledo Marina District financing package completed

The long-awaited Toledo Marina District project has a road, a boat dock, and a dockmaster. By the end of the year, it could have a sprawling waterfront park.

Developer Larry Dillin said Friday he has assembled a private investor group that will provide $3.6 million to buy 58 acres of the 128-acre site in East Toledo, and that construction could start on the waterfront park by July.

The Toledo Take-Back

If you did not see The Simpsons last night, here is "The Toledo Take-Back": The clip is only 1.5 minutes long and "The Toledo Take-Back" is introduced before it is proclaimed so watch for the whole clip for context.

Kaptur files disclosure only after being asked by CQ Politics why she did not

Kaptur has another problem and what is interesting is the group of people her name is coming up with. The peer group of people who did not file are some of the same players in the PMA Scandal. The law says she must file 3/29; she did not.

Lawmakers Slow to Comply With New Filing Requirement

Some senior congressional appropriators are among those with known connections to committees that did not register as leadership PACs, until after being asked about missing the deadline.

40-45,500 said Carty has to go

#TBTOL To put that in perspective, Carty (the endorsed Democrat), won in 2005 with 48899 votes (PDF). Congrats TBT.

James Parlin: The most talked about show that no one saw

The most talked about show that no one saw is how Pennsylvanian artist James Parlin describes the controversy surrounding his exhibit at the Little Gallery on the Firelands branch of Bowling Green State University in Huron, Ohio. Yesterday evening, I got the chance to catch up with Mr. Parlin to talk about what happened and what he plans on doing next.

How can Carty's spokesperson help when he thinks Carty is digging his political grave? - updated

Jason Webber, the current spokesperson for the City of Toledo, must have a difficult job. On Jason's Myspace blog he says Carty is digging his political grave in a post titled "Workin’ for the man...":

Tom Skeldon announces Paris Hilton to provide consulting service to office, promises to recalibrate staffers

In response to the outrage over the senseless death of the vicious dog, Princess, Dog Warden Tom Skeldon has hired Paris Hilton as a consultant for the Lucas County Dog Warden office.

Tom Skeldon stated, “Paris is an expert on dogs like Princess, and her expertise will be invaluable to the other deputies of the office. She can provide us handling and cornering advice that we clearly lack.”

Marcy Kaptur's earmarks in the 2009 Omnibus spending bill

The earmarks for the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act were released. Below are the earmarks that Marcy Kaptur requested with your money. Do you see anything interesting in the list?:

COMMERCE, JUSTICE, SCIENCE - Earmarks

Linda Lynch possibly the lady of many talents

Through my poking around I have found that Linda Lynch is a very busy lady. She is a homemaker, housewife, a PMA attorney, a teacher, a real estate agent, a consultant and maybe a PMA lobbyist. They are all of Woodbridge VA and possibly Dumfries VA. If I were a betting man, I think that this lady will have some explaining to do. Maybe there is more than one Linda Lynch in the area, but given the numbers and the donating behavior, I think she is another funnel for the PMA group. You won't read that anywhere else.

We will take 2nd place

Right behind Glass City Jungle, SwampBubbles was voted by Toledo City Paper readers as runner up for Best Blog of 2008.

Fox Toledo listens to you, reports on your requests at Detroit International Auto Show

Barrett Andrews reports on viewer requests from the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. This report ran yesterday, but being I was so tired from a hard day at work, I did not see it when it was posted. This is a great example of a traditional media using new media to interface and bring viewers closer to the story. While this is a Web exclusive feature, it is still a great way on empower viewers and make them stakeholders in the story. One of my favorite cars, the Tesla Roadster, was covered the report.

Blade story on local bloggers

If you did not already see, the Toledo Blade had a front page story about the bloggers in the area. Yours truly was also in it. I had one quote and it provided a description of what I do and a link to a couple of my sites. Newspapers are limited to a certain amount of space and seeing the print version, that space was rather large. The online version you can't get the same feel for what was put in the print version. The print version of the article also included a photo of me live blogging the TPS meeting last month.
