Small cities can expect fewer flights

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The rejection from Air Midwest came swiftly on a one-page fax. The carrier couldn't afford to fly to the mountain community of Prescott anymore, officials said. The city would simply have to find a new tenant for its tiny airport.

"Everything was going fine — then, bam — the airline is gone," Mayor Jack Wilson said with a sigh. "That's just not how you do business."

Europe fuel protests spread wider

Fuel protests triggered by rising oil prices have spread to more countries across Europe, with thousands of fishermen on strike.

Union leaders said Portugal's entire coastal fleet stayed in port on
Friday, while in Spain, 7,000 fishermen held protests at the
agriculture ministry.

Truckers Clog New Jersey Turnpike in Price Protest

April 1 (Bloomberg) -- Truckers clogged the New Jersey
Turnpike
and other highways today, slowing traffic to as low as
20 mph (32 kph) as part of a nationwide protest against surging
diesel fuel prices, a spokesman for the highway said.
