Finkbeiner's Folly

Tagged:

For almost 2 years, I have been embattled with the City of Toledo (Carty) for several reasons, not the least of which is the sad state of the empty lots adjacent to my home. This year has been particularly rough, to the point that I joined the Recall with Mr. Morrisey. Countless phone calls, emails, letters of intent to file suit, lawyers, newspapers, radio stations, blogs, personal, and commercial friends and civic leaders all trying to accomplish a single goal: Secure the purchase of the empty lot at 220 Columbia and work out a deal on 2251 Putnam.......

You left out, better the city as a whole but actions and deeds and not shallow comments.

Good work and best of all to you and your family.

The city has lost. To "Win", they would have to have come to their senses a year ago, sold me the land quickly so that I could have made the investment of time and money by now to rehabilitate the lots. Instead, they sit as brown lots with debris and just the other day, some ass drove up through the lots and left tire ditches where I had at long last gotten grass to grow late in the season.

This problem of people driving through my back yard and all around in the empty land has gone on sice I've lived here. Even Police chases with cars have gone up through there. Had they sold me the land when I asked, it would have a solid fence and be included in my security system by now and the vandalisim would be over. These "Drive overs" are including the new 120 feet of sidewalk that I had to fight the city to install on their lot. Between the flooding and the cars/trucks going over the walks, it won't be long and it will all be for naught. After all, Sus Fredericks ordered the concrete layers to make the thickness less than the normal. 2/3 rds was poured at 4-6 inches, she had them reduce the last section to 2-4 inches..directly over the sinkhole that existed as a result of the decaying sewers. To this day, the water is still washing under that walk and the backfill is still sinking 6 months later.
