Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. is guilty of an “unseemly coverup” in dealing with reports of dangerous sudden acceleration by some of its vehicles, consumer advocate Ralph Nader said.

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil – Leftists are pouring into town to rail against freewheeling capitalism during the World Social Forum, gleefully cheering the humbling of bankers and business titans by the global economic meltdown.

In May 2009, Forbes ranked Toledo as the worst job market among mid-sized cities, citing massive industry decline in the past decade. However, the plight of our community is not isolated; Cleveland, Dayton and Youngstown make the list for worst job markets in the nation, and businesses continue to hemorrhage from our borders. National Cash Register abandoned Dayton over the summer, and this month American Greetings announced plans to possibly relocate from its Brooklyn headquarters.

It is a disappointment that Editor and Publisher is shutting its doors. They were always a good source of information on the Blade. While they are closing up shop, here is the latest on the changes at the Blade. I have not watched the local coverage of the changes, but there are a few more positions discussed in this report than just Kushma.

I always look for confirmation when exposing people or situations. To expound on the topic “Toledo’s Children,” I have been battling with myself as to whether or not I should release this topic with my opinions however harsh they may be. My confirmation came from two sources, one an individual who heads one of the organizations and one I have been debating on whether or not I am being too harsh, the second came from a full page ad taken out in the Toledo Blade by the Toledo Blade titled “We the people.” That ad stated in it’s entirety, “Eight out of ten people read The Blade.

Toledo, Ohio ‑ Twenty years ago, Mrs. Bea Jennings was the second person to become eligible to ride the Toledo Area Regional Paratransit System’s small buses.

As a mother, I have always taught my sons the necessity of living within their means and avoiding accumulating debt. Especially with the onset of the economic recession, I have stressed the importance of trimming down excess expenditures during an unstable economy. But as the government continues to grow its power and become increasingly embedded in our everyday lives, it also continues to inefficiently consume our tax dollars. As Ohio’s families struggle to make ends meet, the last thing we need is for government growth and spending to spiral out of control.

Troy -- Neither rain nor delays could dampen the spirits of thousands who thronged Tuesday for Tea Party Express rallies in Troy, Brighton and Jackson against big government and national health care reform.

From the Toledo Blade:Toledoan Hostetler, 31, is one of six invited to design a premium 16-ounce bottle for Mountain Dew that debuts as a limited edition on 9/9/09. Silk screened on an aluminum vessel with a pry-off cap, Hostetler's design sports 10 eyes, each about two inches wide. The bottom eye is a closed line of lashes. In an abbreviated spiral climbing toward the cap, eyes open gradually until the topmost eye pops with an emerald iris the size of a quarter.

“The idea is that by the time you finish the bottle you're wide awake,” says Mr. Hostetler, whose contribution is attributed to UPSO, his creative moniker.

If there is one thing I’ve learned from raising a family and running a small business, it’s that spending more than you can afford will ruin you financially. And if Ohio’s government were a business we would certainly be bankrupt.

The crash happened on I-475, just south of Central Avenue in Springfield Township, just after 10pm Friday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 22 year old Jason Krotz was trying to pass a semi when he lost control. He hit the back of the semi, went off the road and rolled over several times before finally coming to a stop.
