Does anyone find this curious, Larry Dilliin promotes Wood Co. But Funkboner chastises them!!

Regional businesses find homes at Levis Commons
PERRYSBURG

and Funkboner, too. Yep, that'll save the area. new stores for people to shop at. Along with still more bars and restaurants, while they're closing all over the place. Too bad no type of manufacturing facilities can come in to create halfway decently paying jobs.

Nope.

It seems quite clear.

Wood County provides better access to highways and better location which is not the fault of Lucas County.

How do we make access to places in Toledo for people to find them and what do we offer that is similar to what Wood County has.

Drive off a highway in Wood County and look at the signs for this and that and then do the same here and you'll notice the difference.

There is so little to attract people to what we have in Toledo when people are driving down the highways.

The Mayors frustrations should not be with Wood County as it should be directed at the efforts of the city he manages to achieve what he sets out.

Toledo $41,175
Rossford $57,442
Maumee $60,776
Perrysburg $75, 651

Let's suppose that Toledoans were spending every penny they could to support the economy. The median family would still have $16,000 less in disposable income than Rossford, $19,000 less than Maumee, and $34,500 less than Perrysburg. Why would any business (unless it is a "mass market") want to pick Toledo for their market? You locate where the money is, and it isn't in Toledo. Also, if the cost of transportation is becoming a factor then you want to place your business where people won't have to spend a few thousand every year in gas to shop there.

The money has been leaving Toledo with the exodus of the family unit. Poor performing schools and high crime have been driving families to the suburbs for years. Without a sustainable foundation to build a future for a family's children, Toledo will continue its growing disparity to the surrounding communities.

Lastly, you don't have to be a rocket scientist that businesses will re-locate to where the healthy consumers live and play. Again, why would a business want to locate in Toledo or a family of four want to live and go to school in Toledo? Where's the future or vision of raising a successful lifestyle?

As the families leave, your tax base shrinks. This is a core demographic that owns and improves assets, as well as shapes communities.
