Author and investigative journalist Dr. Jerome Corsi is in agreement with several members of Congress who are demanding the pardon of two former U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a fleeing drug suspect.
The latest demands came on the heels of the recent murder of a Border Patrol agent at the hands of another fleeing drug smuggler. Thirty-two-year old Luis Aguilar was attempting to place spike strips in front of two vehicles which were being used by smugglers trying to escape back across the border into Mexico. But the father of two was fatally injured when struck by one of the vehicles. The incident took place at the Imperial Dunes Recreational area in California -- a hot spot for smugglers.
Dr. Jerome Corsi claims the Bush administration has created a situation in which Border Patrol agents are unwilling to act for fear that they will be prosecuted like Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean -- who are serving 11- and 12-year sentences for wounding a drug smuggler on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2005.
"They make a mistake and they're going to jail, according to George W. Bush, and the drug runners get away. They have free run. They can run over the agents with Hummers and other vehicles," Corsi complains. "... George W. Bush had better wake up .... The blood of the Border Patrol [agent] trying to do [his] job ... should be on George Bush's hands."
Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Colorado) is among a group of congressmen who are demanding the release of the two imprisoned agents.
