Honda Motor Co. is recalling 140,000 Fit hatchbacks in the United States and another 506,000 worldwide over a potential fire hazard relating to the power window units, according to media reports.

As a media industry observer, I read your Sunday story "Solid future for Toledo area Chrysler plants" with great interest. Nothing would make me happier than the prospect of the Jeep plants running at full capacity to meet demand for worldwide export. Unfortunately, not one of the five experts quoted mentioned the largest barrier to such a rosy future: the high tariffs and taxation applied to U.S.-made goods in foreign markets.

Interesting article about health care in other countries, looking to dispel (or reinforce) beliefs Americans have about them. I really like the part about the American system being a horrible hybrid of medical coverage, and our high administrative costs. We are private, quasi-socialized, and exclusionary all in the same system. And in amusing deference to Sarah Palin, we already have death panels in place in our system, whose jobs exist to deny health care to people in order to keep their jobs and make their boards money.
