A Decade of Self-Delusion

A Decade of Self-Delusion by Pat Buchanan (Republican)
http://townhall.com/columnists/PatBuchanan/2009/12/29/a_decade_of_self-d...
About the first decade of what was to be the Second American Century, the pessimists have been proven right.

According to the International Monetary Fund, the United States began the century producing 32 percent of the world's gross domestic product. We ended the decade producing 24 percent. No nation in modern history, save for the late Soviet Union, has seen so precipitous a decline in relative power in a single decade.

American Christians responsible for Ugandan death sentence for homosexuals?

I don't get why these nut cases care who other people sleep with. Now these homosexual "experts" have influenced another country to impose the death penalty because of who they are.

"Last March, three American evangelical Christians, whose teachings about “curing” homosexuals have been widely discredited in the United States, arrived here in Uganda’s capital to give a series of talks.

As a media industry observer, I read your Sunday story "Solid future for Toledo area Chrysler plants" with great interest. Nothing would make me happier than the prospect of the Jeep plants running at full capacity to meet demand for worldwide export. Unfortunately, not one of the five experts quoted mentioned the largest barrier to such a rosy future: the high tariffs and taxation applied to U.S.-made goods in foreign markets.

I really hope that this movie just inspires and stimulates people to do any number of things that they can do, starting with don't leave your home because they can't produce the mortgage. I'm going to have a thing on my website with Marcy Kaptur, and by the way, that Congresswoman from Toledo, Ohio, when Obama's eight years are up can we just make her the first female president in the United States.

Understanding Health Care in Other Countries

I really like the part about the American system being a horrible hybrid of medical coverage, and our high administrative costs. We are private, quasi-socialized, and exclusionary all in the same system. And in amusing deference to Sarah Palin, we already have death panels in place in our system, whose jobs exist to deny health care to people in order to keep their jobs and make their boards money.
