Council votes to raise trash tax

Sticking with the punitive way of encouraging bad behavior, council raised the trash tax to $7, lowered the fee for those who recycle by $1. But we are all still paying the fee.

Another temporary TAX/FEE which looks like it may last forever. That is unless the Shanahan lawsuit prevails.

I caught a bit of the report while I was at work this morning and thought they said that by 2010 that it was expected the fee would be $10 for people who don't recycle and free for people who do.

So where will they get the money if the whole city starts to recycle?

i agree with you, and i was wondering in 2010, what are they going to say to justify keeping it on? kind of like the 1982 TEMPORARY tax we just passed.

Not that that result was in any doubt. The Council was about as opposed to the tax as the Democrats in the Congress are "anti-war". All this brouhaha about the Council's involvement was just more distraction to keep Toledoans at a minimum level of pointless hope ... before the inevitable pain hits.

Now we have yet another tax to pay, forever. Find a Toledoan who really cares, too. We vocal ones are really a minority. The majority are paying and bowing their heads with the appropriate submission.

Wait until emissions taxes are implemented in the Toledo area. Have an old car? It belches pollutants, nearly by definition. Pay up, Bub. That'll teach you to be poor, you fucker.

Q. What do you call a Toledoan on his hands and knees?
A. A "Toledoan", but he really does look like a sheep from that position, doesn't he?
