CitiFest, Erie St. Market fail to pay employees

"At least 10 employees of the Erie Street Market and CitiFest Inc. - some part-time, some full-time - didn't receive their biweekly paycheck Friday because of the financial problems of the market and its management agency, CitiFest."

So how much ya wanna bet they'll just dip into the coffers and use our tax dollars to pay these people?

GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF ESM NOW AND LET IT LIVE OR DIE ON ITS OWN!!!

and that is there is no oversight and those who are in charge of the organizations, like their elected counter parts, have for the most part never held a meaningful job.

Who do you know who has a job and gets a regular paycheck but has no idea whether their is money in the bank to cover the checks they write to pay for goods and services?. Of course who has a bank that would let them overdraw their account by $40,000 dollars?

"CitiFest Inc. paid $15,493 in overdraft fees this year before its bank stopped honoring overdrawn checks, prompting the current crisis, according to a document obtained by The Blade."
...
"Not clear is whether CitiFest board members knew CitiFest's accounts were severely overdrawn."

Was there no financial oversight by the board??? Shame, shame. I feel for the workers that found out the hard way about the severity of the situation.

Wasn't I just reading someplace where Epstein was touting EPIC's seminars on fiduciary duties for those aspiring to various local boards? Somebody needs to fall on a sword.

I hope you put this 15K in overdraft fees on your list.

What complete waste of our money. How many potholes could be fixed for $15,493??

How much to we pay the guy who got to say, "Oops! I bounced some checks, doggonit!!"

... I'll add that IF the city covers this cost...The hard part about Citifest is that they get both public and private funding. Additionally, I've already listed the $75,000 the city gave them...

But I'll keep a watch on this one - and thanks for the suggestion!
