Chicago Tribune's: Toledo Travel Guide

Included is a guide to Toledo.

-Robert Cross' 8 reasons to go
-Guide to attractions and links to Tribune stories.

"You think the best art museum east of the Art Institute is New York's Metropolitan? No doubt. But on the way, pause at the Toledo Museum of Art, a major contender. Spend at least a day to take in galleries filled with medieval art, precious jewelry, African and Asian treasures, and paintings by the masters, including Gauguin, Renoir, van Gogh and Monet. But that's not all. Across Monroe Street, find the museum's brand-new Glass Pavilion, all a sparkle with cut glass punch bowls, blown-glass vases and the like. It's a reminder that this is the town that glass built--starting in 1888 with the Libby glass works--and that the Libby fortune contributed mightily to Toledo's status as an art lover's destination and a town worth exploring."

thats AWESOME

"an art lover's destination"

...that's pretty great.

something we should be proud of. :) nice to read something positive about Toledo for a change, of course it has nothing to do with Carty.

Honestly not being negative here... but what's with the mention of "theaters" at the Toledo Zoo? Other than the amphitheater I don't know of any theaters there. Also, is it really possible to spend a whole day or weekend at the art museum?

I believe that they've converted the museum building into some type of theater now. When my son and I went to see the Lights before Christmas the friday before Christmas that is where Santa was holding court. We peeked in but didn't stay because it was crazy crowded in there.
That being said, I'm kind of bummed they got rid of the museum at the Zoo because it was always a favorite of mine as a kid.
I think it's really awesome that we got such an excellent review. Its easy to forget sometimes that Toledo really does have some good points to it.

yeah.. a day at the museum is easy if you stroll leisurely . if you give yourself enough time, you really notice new things in the art. that being said.. i can't imagine doing it! ha ha

The list is down to seven reasons to go...

The penalty that must be paid for transforming ourselves to a science/technology culture!
