Changing Toledo City Government

Tagged:  •

A new citizens based organization is formed to advance changes in Toledo city government. Changes include, reducing the size of council and making it more representative of Toledo, changing the appointment process, reviewing the form of government - strong mayor v. city manager, and transparency measures. www.toledocobra.org is packed with information on the movement and changes it seeks. It allows for Toledoans to give their input, volunteer, lobby and take a poll. Soon, there will be community meetings to gather input from Toledoans. Go to www.toledocobra.org and find out more about the effort.

I think the city needs to trim the fat off of itself before resorting to the usual scare tactics of laying off the fireman and cops to get more money out of us.

How about we get rid of half of city council (the at-large) ones. Wouldn't that save the city about 150-165g's a year?

What do you think?
