Census figures and the doubting Thomas's

"Council President Rob Ludeman said he believes at least his South Toledo district is growing in population, based on the number of new condo, villa, and single-family home developments.

"The population downtown and near downtown has increased. I question the validity of the figures," he said."

This is the same city council president who decried the figures that last time. Perhaps if he got out more to the other parts of the city he would see the vacant lots and boarded up and vacant homes as well as businesses that are now boarded up and vacant.

But at least the Mayor and Ludeman are not planning on a legal challenge to the figures, yet.

I live in his district. When I first moved here there were rarely any for sale signs. And when a house on the blocks I live in, bigger houses on dead end streets - they sold right away.

Now there are for sale signs everywhere. I live next door to an empty foreclosure from about two years ago. How can he say this?

If you're here to tell me it's my fault - you're right. I meant to do it. It was alot of fun. That's why I have this happy smile on my face.

...the census estimates, you have no obligation to do anything about them...like change your ways.

always much easier to deny a statistic than to consider it may be correct and then be responsible for addressing it...

Write him and ask him, robert.ludeman@toledo.oh.gov but don't expect an answer though.

He is really poor at e-mail
