I don

sflagg and purnhrt are my favorite commenters on this site, because both of them are informed; unlike me, who just gives an opinion. However, I am able to have an opinion by comparing the information they give, reading the links, and then thinking about it all. After attending cheryl's news conferences; reading her website; following Chris's website and all of the information he has posted or linked; reading Lisa's material; and news articles on all the other candidates, there is only one conclusion to make. Vote for Cheryl Catlin and Chris Meyers if we want to see any inroads toward the change in TPS that is so sorely needed.

Well, it is just an opinion from a bunch of people that were strong supporters of Sanders. The same guy that approved, behind the backs of the board, the retroactive pay increase - an action that would have gotten you fired if you were in the private sector.

The Blade simply wants to control the process. When it comes to TPS, they frequently get their facts wrong in both their news stories and editorials.

They never really gave us any good reasons to vote for either of their endorsed candidates - just regurgitated their campaign materials.

Speaking of campaigns - all the candidates now speak the mantra of financial accountability, community engagement and academic achievement - a theme fleshed out by 3 for Change and the basis for what the Urban Coalition has been doing for years.

They all agree now so why vote for an imitation when you can vote for a genuine article?

Lisa is endorsed by The Blade

The Blade vs. Toledo Journal...........
ouch!

Do not forget to watch Lisa's TWO commercials also..........
another ouch for Catlin and Meyers...

I appreciate your kind words. I try hard to make sure the comments I make about TPS are based upon facts - to the point that I frequently reference and include the actual source materials so others may read it and form their own opinions.

Considering how the Blade has handled the TPS (which is apparently a major advertiser there) so softly, that's neither surprising nor an actual boon for a candidate. Yes, many people will foolishly vote under the influence of the Blade's endorsement, since that's easier than thinking. But, NO, the endorsement emerged from the wrong reasons, and the consequences are far too dire if that line is followed.

The last thing Toledo needs is another 4-1 Board of Education. Ms Fisher deserves to have REAL supporters at her side, who are aligned with the principles of the Three For Change campaign. Lisa Sobecki is not aligned thusly. In my opinion, she's going to vote right along with Steel and Ford, and then Torres will align with them as the majority as he's (probably unwisely) done for the last 2 years. Fiscal controls and accountability will become de-prioritized; spending and secrecy will become a priority. The stakeholders in the TPS (taxpayers and parents) will have to watch as elite groups (the unionized teachers and administrators, and the construction companies ... basically, two Mafias) ride their school system into the ground.

If Sobecki and Ford do edge out the people of notable merit (Myers primarily), my personal policy will be to advise everyone to vote down each and every tax levy until the Mafia control of the TPS Board is corrected. That will be at least a 2-yr period.
