TAMPA, Fla. - Police in the 1970s urged citizens to "drop a dime" in a pay phone to report crimes anonymously. Now in an increasing number of cities, tipsters are being invited to use their thumbs — to identify criminals using text messages.
Police hope the idea helps recruit teens and 20-somethings who wouldn't normally dial a Crime Stoppers hot line to share information with authorities.
PHILADELPHIA - A half-dozen police officers kicked and beat three men pulled from a car during a traffic stop as a TV helicopter taped the confrontation.
The video, shot by WTXF-TV, shows three police cars stopping a car Monday, two days after a city officer was shot to death responding to a bank robbery.
A few weeks ago Rick Stager announced at Oregons Annual Police Awards Banguet that he was accepting Mayor Browns offer to become the permanent acting Police Chief. After speaking with almost (NOT all but most) all of the members of Oregons Police Department everyone I spoke is very supportive in this decision.
By the end of the year, Toledo police hope to increase parking tickets issued by 20 percent, complete a security assessment of all the city's public and parochial schools, and be able to scan license plates automatically with at least one of their patrol cars.
a Democrat, a Republican, or a Redneck?
Here is a little test that will help you decide.
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.
Tips to School Security for Toledo Public Schools
There was once a time when smoking in the boy's room was the infraction of the day. Those days are over...in today's public school, officials must deal with violence, sexual harassment, statutory rape, drugs, weapons, gangs, bombs, shootings, computer hacking, theft, irate disgruntled parents and domestic violence.
Laws and Gun Laws are only for law abiding people. Criminals don’t care about laws. And Ohio’s gun laws are just about stupid! Lets face it. In Ohio if a law abiding person takes all the classes and training and passes all. He or she can get a permit to carry a concealed hand gun.
The Toledo Police Patrolman's Association board of directors has voted to extend vision health-care coverage to life partners of union members, said Dan Wagner, president.

There is a rumor going around that the Oregon Police Officer "Jeff Brown" stopped the drunk driver that killed all those people before the driver got to the taco bell that night AND let him go. You remember the officer was texting the bar owner that night. First, why when he was on duty was he texting. He should have been working. Earning his taxpayers dollars!

TOLEDO -- A local mother is outraged after she says her 14 year old son was tased by Toledo Police at the Westfield Franklin Park Mall.
14-year-old, Martez Moore is in the hospital today after being tased Friday night by Toledo Police officers.
Martez is a special needs child with epilepsy.

Michael Gagnon of Adrian, Michigan, has fun, gets drunk, decides to drive completely wasted then murders a whole family and today will probably not remember any of it. 1 fun night, 2 moronic decisions, 5 people dead, dozens of people's lives changed forever.

Police Chief Navarre admits failure of his/Finbeiner's plan to plaster the sides of Patrol Cars with business advertising.
"Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre thought it was the ideal situation.
But very few businesses liked the idea and even fewer agreed to participate.
I gave a few news people this story, and they sat on it - did nothing really. They didn't think it newsworthy enough I guess, or perhaps they just weren't that good of journalists to see past the 'not available for comment'. I do not know mayor Brown - I don't want to know mayor Brown.

Is there an email address for maggie & (or) Brian Wilson? I have a tip on a bit of news that I think the media is going to be having a field day with, but cannot disclose my name (there are good reasons).
It's been nine months since Danielle Dressel learned her husband was shot on a cold, dark street in North Toledo, and she still struggles to hide the tears when she speaks of her loss.
For Michael and Larraine Dressel, the death of their son is a pain felt every day and one that is magnified when seeing his empty seat at holiday meals.
I heard a high level police officer talk this evening (I won't mention the name). He was saying they are a tad short of manpower. While almost every city is, this is not abnormal. He was saying they could use a little more manpower, but if nothing is done to hire new recruits, they will have a serious problem in 1 to 2 years from now.
