Ben Konop, Honor Your Word
"www.onetermis.notlong.com Petition Urges Commissioner to Keep Ethics Pledge to Lucas County Voters"
September 14,2008
For Immediate Release
Toledo, OH - In his 2006 campaign for Lucas County Commissioner, Ben Konop twice took an "ethics pledge" in which he stated "I will serve the full duration of the term for the office of which I am elected to."
Last night, while watching 13abc, it was asked if Ben would be violating his own election pledge by running for mayor (if he decides to do so).
Specifically:
"I will serve the full duration of the term for the office of which I am elected to"
While that one may be a question, there are a couple of other items that question whether he is actually following it now. Can you pick them up?
On his weekly segment, Ben reveals that he has an idea to run for Mayor. Do you think he would be a good candidate for Mayor?

How interesting that one day after I talk about how large government spending to restart the economy on WSPD, that Ben Konop comes out and writes an article on how proud he is about doing such a thing. Of course I had no clue he would be writing this piece, but I wanted to reemphasize that this area is a perfect example of how government spending to create jobs does not work.
Troy and Ben disagree about $7.50 per hour being a living wage.
Do you think Ben is right? Are things that bad out there?

On a fairly slow news day, Ben “the pit bull” Konop joins the show for his weekly interview. Ben starts to get a little fired up when talking about Matt Sapara’s $180,000.00 salary and the good ol' boy network that makes up the LCIC board.

Intermodal freight transportation is exploding around the country and Northwest Ohio is well-placed and well-equipped to handle cargo for the tri-state area. However, we need to be smart about how we encourage development around resources like Toledo Express. Governmental agencies like the Port Authority are working to entice logistics companies into building intermodal terminals at TOL, but they also must determine which development prospects are practical and which proposals will only drain the area's limited infrastructure improvement budget. After reviewing Brian McMahon's proposal, I feel it qualifies as the latter for the following reasons.

In via e-mail (better late than never):
Commissioner Konop Proposes Openness and Transparency Reform for County Government
Resolution would force disclosure of campaign contributions for those receiving government contracts
I had the pleasure of speaking this morning with a number of people actively involved in the intermodal project that is a vision for Toledo Express. I went back and pulled some of handbanana's questions because he seemed a little unsure of how all this would work and confused about the process.
While other hosts were grandstanding at city council, Troy and his producer booked a show full of news makers. Here is an interview with Commissioner Ben Konop.
Who let the dogs out? Troy has a little fun with Commissioner Ben Konop about his theme song.
Konop talks about putting the freeze on the Lucas County dog warden's door-to-door inspections.
Coincidence?
"That's never been the strong suit of that person who chooses to remain nameless."
That’s what Ben said after Troy asked him about the PWCTRN (person who chooses to remain nameless) research.
Troy Neff Show: Oregon mayor Marge Brown and Commissioners Tina Skeldon Wozniak, Pete Gerken and Ben Konop discuss the LCIC.
Can you really be in charge of finding the head of an organization that you are also trying to destroy?
Matt Sapara and Rob Robinson of the LCIC will appear with a radio host to be named later, Wednesday on the Morning News on 1370 WSPD at 7:30a. They will respond to charges and innuendo brought by commissioner Ben Konop at Tuesday's meeting. Expect questions that are direct and to the point.
Following todays commissioners meeting and the announcement by Oregon mayor Marge Brown that she will run against Konop when he is up for re-election, how effective can Konop be as a commissioner? What experience did he bring to county government when elected in the first place?
Ben joins Troy to talk about skipping the State of the County Event.

The perennial problem of the Erie Street Market, what to do? Well, Ben Konop has an idea. God knows the ESM needs help. From the local Fox affiliate: "The Glass City's been losing jobs for years. The Erie Street Market downtown has been a failing venture. But Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop proposes a plan to fix both problems at the same time in this edition of Rant and Rave."
