Well it appears that WSPD has once again gotten results. Since late April we have been banging the drum for action on an intermodal facility for Toledo/ Northwest Ohio and it is finally starting to pay off. The mayor after saying he has worked on it for 28 months, and had nothing to show for it, finally named a committee to study it.

Once again WSPD was the only radio station in attendance when the Ohio Transportation Priorities Task Force rolled into Toledo for a meeting Tuesday at 4p. Tom Blaha from Wood County's Development Commissione, and Rich Martinko of the UT Intermodal Institute spoke. Both have been on Fred's show before talking about intermodal facilities.

Jim Tuschman the head of the mayor's newly named intermodal committe will be my guest Tuesday morning. Following a long talk this afternoon I believe what he has to say tomorrow will be of interest to anyone wishing to see this area thrive and grow once again. Mr. Tuschman is a life long Toledo resident, attorney, UT regent, and former UT Board member.

This Thursday at 7pm you will be able to take a look for yourself at what should/could be the future of Toledo and Northwest Ohio. WSPD is holding a free and open to the public showing of Brian McMahon's Intermodal presentation in the Health Education Building on the Health Science Campus of UT, that's the former MCO campus. If you enter on Glendale follow the signs to Lot 3 and park free.

Thursday morning I will be speaking with Richard Martinko P.E. on the topic of an Intermodal facility in our region. Mr. Martinko was at the meeting earlier this week with the Port Authority, WSPD, WTOL, and developer Brian McMahon where the need for this type of facility was discussed.

I attended a meeting this afternoon at the Wood County offices to hear about the Intermodal facility being built in North Baltimore. This is not a dream, it is a reality. A big, fat, $80 million reality for Wood County. There were a number of Lucas County people there from the private sector, I saw none that I recognized from the Toledo administration or Lucas County.
