Finger-biting, gun-toting health 'debate'
Hands down, this has been the weirdest day of the health-care debate.

If the presidential election was no nail-biter, the finger-biting in California this week has escalated the rhetoric of an already over-heated debate over health-care reform.

The confrontation with a man who may have punched a health-care reform demonstrator, only to have the tip of his pinky bitten off, has elicited all sorts of venom about the cannibalistic left, as opposed to the right, which simply, what, eats its young?

Nothing is wrong with Canadian and British health care - just be quiet and let us force this through

District residents present Kaptur's office with 900 petitions demanding a no vote on healthcare

Bob Latta makes the YouTube blog answering questions on healthcare

This was posted on 8/22 but worth mentioning. Latta got the chance to answer questions on healthcare from Internet users in the following video, which was moderated by YouTube. The official YouTube blog is a major blog with Feedburner reporting over 2 million readers. This is some great exposure for Latta.

Money-Driven Medicine

Money-Driven Medicine

The film MONEY-DRIVEN MEDICINE reveals how a profit-hungry medical-
industrial complex has turned health care into a system that squanders
millions of dollars on unnecessary tests, unproven and sometimes
unwanted procedures and overpriced prescription drugs. Oscar-winning
filmmaker Alex Gibney has teamed up with producers Peter Bull, Chris
Matonti, and director Andy Fredericks to produce a film based on
Maggie Mahar's powerful book MONEY-DRIVEN MEDICINE.

More support for a healthcare 'public option'

"Among the 1,000 Democrats, Republicans and independents surveyed on Aug. 12 and 13, 79 percent say they believe a federal government health insurance option should be available for people to buy." (more)

Thoughtful post on Ted Kennedy

From Maggie Thurber's blog:

Sen. Edward Kennedy passed away Monday.

I offer my sympathies to his family and friends over his loss. Having lost an uncle to brain cancer, I know first-hand what a dreadful disease it is. So I'm grateful he is no longer suffering its effects - and that he had a full and good life.

I was not a fan of Sen. Kennedy. It will come as no surprise to readers of this blog that I rarely agreed with any of his positions and was quite opposed to many of his proposals.

Representatives Sears and Maag Introduce Ohio Health Care Freedom Act

Representatives Barbara Sears (R-Sylvania) and Ron Maag (R-Lebanon) today introduced legislation to preserve the freedom of Ohioans to make their own health care decisions. House Joint Resolution 3,
known as the Ohio Health Care Freedom Act, would propose an
amendment to Ohio’s Constitution to prohibit any Ohio law or rule from forcing
any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in a health care system.

Why is taxpayer-funded healthcare ok for Bob Latta, but not for regular Americans?

Bob Latta says taxpayer-funded healthcare is not the answer for Americans

"President Barack Obama’s bill currently before Congress is not the answer, though, Latta explained. Latta said Congress needs to determine where the health care debate should go from here."

Polish Princess in Poland

She is traveling on our dime. She got out of Dodge because the heat was too hot on the Obama Health Plan. Hopefully, she will find some free time on her junket to read the Health Care Bill and will be able to talk intelligently about it when she returns. I won't hold my breath.

Obama Makes a Political Booty Call to the Church
Doug Giles
Saturday, August 22, 2009

What’s this? Obama now needs the Church—which he’s been regularly dissing—to come to his aid and help “prod Congress” to pass his Health Scare Deform Swill? Well, La-dee-da. In the words of the angry and bad serial dater, Alanis Morissette, “Isn’t it ironic, don’t ‘cha think? A little too ironic, and yeah, I really do think.”

Right shuffles race card into ‘stealth reparations’
Clarence Page
I thought slavery reparations were a dead issue by now. Glenn Beck set me straight.
The radio talk show host and Fox News Channel star says President Barack Obama’s proposed health care overhaul is really “stealth reparations,” a form of racial payback in Beck’s world by another name.
I am not making this up. On his radio program last month and in a video floating around the Web, Beck argues that Obama’s announced opposition to reparations is only a smoke screen for his “stealth” support. (MORE)
