Why does the media go after Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber but ignores the candidates like Obama?

Why is it we know more about Joe the Plumber than Barack Obama? Why is it there are investigators crawling around Alaska trying to dig up dirt on Palin, but yet Obama gets away with ties to William Ayers (the Timothy McVeigh of another generation) and his ties to Resko and his very overt distancing himself of controversial people. Even Obama's responses are not very good (e.g. last night he said "Ayers did not help me this campaign"). The media also seems to ignore McCain and Biden's issues too. Why is it that everyone else is a target, but the ones who should be better vetted are the candidates themselves? What is wrong with the media? Joe the Plumber is in an interesting situation. Everything came to him, yet he only asked a legitimate question yet everyone wants to pile on and tear him apart. Something is not right.

I think I would have liked this post better if you would have said "Why does the media go after Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber but ignores the candidates like McCain."

Are you comparing Sarah Palin to Joe the Plumber? She is a candidate for vice president.

in the post about McCain and Biden.

But why is Joe being investigated yet the primary candidates are not?

"why does the media go after Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber but ignores the candidates like Obama"? The way it is written to me is that Sarah Palin is not a candidate.

I said:

"The media also seems to ignore McCain and Biden's issues too."

But if the media put in the resources investigating everyone like they did with Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, we would know a lot more about Obama and the other candidates.

compare Ayers to Timothy McVeigh. I heard Limbaugh make that comparison last week and thought that it was irresponsible of him to make that comparison. I remember the Weathermen and that part of history. The only people I remember being killed were some of the Weathermen. My memory may be cloudy but can you tell me who was killed by the Weathermen?

McVeigh bombed buildings and did not kill anyone it would be OK? That does not seem right. They are both wrong and wrong in the same way. I can't find a detailed history, but a couple of the members did kill 2 police officers during a robbery shootout.

as I said, I remember the Underground Weathermen, and I don't remember them killing anyone much less two policemen. Timothy McVeigh bombed and killed babies and no it would not be alright if he bombed and didn't kill anyone but the analogy of Ayers and McVeigh, just doesn't fly and I am surprised that you would think that that is ok.

It's sort of like comparing Larry Sykes, (who as a TPS board member damaged children) and Charles Roberts.

Somebody has started a fund for Joe:

While the Weathermen Underground were too stoned or too stupid to succeed, their intent was the same as McVeigh's: to harm those with whom they did not agree.

Ayers is every bit the villain that McVeigh was.

Yeah, and why aren't the media talking about Todd Palin's connection with the America-hating Alaskan Independence Group. What was Sarah connection?

"Initially formed as a splinter group which believed that peaceful protests were ineffective, the Weathermen were widely criticized for their use of violence as a means of social and political change. Some accused the group of terrorism, while others accused it of giving all activists, both militant and more mainstream, a bad name."

Joe would appreciate the media, since, for example, by reading today's USA Today, he could educate himself about the candidates' differing tax proposals:

"It is utterly bizarre that McCain chose this guy as the poster child, because this guy would get a tax cut under Obama, and wouldn't under McCain," says William Gale, co-director of the Tax Policy Center, which has analyzed both Obama's and McCain's tax plans.

The media goes after Sarah Palin??? It doesn't take much digging to learn that the "reformer" Sarah Palin violated Alaska laws about ethics; all it takes is reading the findings of the Branchflower report. But I guess you think that allegations about connections with William Ayers are much more newsworthy than the bipartisan findings of a state legislature.

of Bill Ayers (of my generation) to the Timothy McVeigh (of another generation). McVeigh committed a horrific crime while killing innocent people including children. Mr. Ayers of my generation did not really cause a blip on the radar screen with my generation because they were a bunch of Keystone Kops and the only people who got killed or hurt were not innocent, they were making bombs when they got hurt or were killed.

How are these two people considered to be cut from the same cloth other than in the mind of the maniacal Rush Limbaugh and his followers? Isn't Rush Limbaugh the one who was dealing drugs that he took? Even crack dealers don't do that.

It's simple they both bombed Federal buildings in an effort to overthrow the government.

What do we call people who use violence or the threat of violence to achieve political gains? Terrorists.

They are both terrorists. The only difference is one is a right-wing terrorist and the other a left-wing terrorist.
