Watch out Lucas County Dog Warden, that Dachshund may be more dangerous than that Pit Bull you are eyeing. "Study Finds Dachshund To Be Most Aggressive Breed" (http://www.kctv5.com/family/16819735/detail.html ) KCTV reports on a recent study that finds Dashshunds to be the most aggressive breed of dog.

"Citing a study published by Applied Animal Behavior Science, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported that one in five dachshunds has bitten or tried to bite strangers, and one in 12 has shown aggression toward its owners.

The study involved researchers from the University of Pennsylvania. About 6,000 dog owners were questioned about their dogs' behavior. Thirty-three breeds were ranked on their aggression."

Next on the list is the Chihuahua, followed by the Jack Russell Terrier. Pit Bulls did not even make the top 5.

"The Telegraph reported that researchers said previous studies on canine aggression could have been misleading as most bites from smaller dogs were not reported. "

This just goes to show you...don't rule out the little guy (dog)!

I would have thought that the Chihuahua would have been first on the list...I knew they were supposed to be a rather aggressive breed.

(Of course, its less intimidating to have an ankle biter come after you than a much bigger dog.) :)

I've seen all types of dogs bite but I've never seen a Dachshund maul a child.

The Dachshund was bred to deal with badgers and other vermin. Most animals will give the badger a very wide berth due to its ferocity. I'm not surprised the Dachshund made the top five. I'm wondering where the Canary Island dog placed.
