THIS IS TERRIBLE!!!!!

There's a huge uproar and a lot of noise about this incident. I'm in Madison, WI, and the news is providing a lot of coverage.

Sheriff David Clark mentions that he would have liked the passengers to step up and protect the bus driver, but since it's illegal in Wisconsin to carry a concealed weapon, protection is somewhat problematical.

What everyone is carefully staying away from are the possible motivations for the attack. Road rage, mental illness or some type of personal vendetta aren't even being speculated on. I think it's likely that this is a case of road rage.

This bandana wearing wanna- be tough guy punches like a sissy, and pulls hair like a punk. The odds are good that I may have done something had I been on that bus. There's nothing like a good case for self defense. That bus could have crashed and hurt a lot of people. There are times when I will quickly get up and get some dirty job taken care of. Two years ago some clown got out of his car on Summit Street when the bridge was backed up and yelled at me. ( I pulled in front of him, and yes I shouldn't have done that) I knew that I could deal with that yelling, but was ready to take action should the screaming fool kick my car. The saddest part was that he had a small boy with him and what a nice lesson to teach the kids.

I'm curious as to why the driver didn't put the bus into park immediately when the attack started. You can clearly see the door is still open and then it closes and the bus starts to pull away. It even looks aas though the attacker tried to leave but the door was closed and the bus moving.
There also seems to be a gap in the footage where the guy comes walking from the back again to start hitting the driver.
The bus was still in motion.

Why on earth didn't the driver stop the bus?

So... you're bulletproof, right?

So am I. No one would mention it on commercial media, but I don't think the driver handled the situation well at all. He should have stopped the bus immediately and dealt with the attacker. Instead, he keeps the bus rolling. If the driver would have popped the brakes hard at 5 or 10 miles an hour, the attacker likely would have hit the deck.

They caught the attacker, by the way. It turned out to be a teen ager who had tried to use an expired bus pass earlier and been denied.

I'm glad that they caught him.
I didn't figure that they would since his face was so covered. Someone must have turned him in. He was probably bragging about it.

I still wish someone would have asked the driver why he drove away.

I never thought or said I was bulletproof. I simply refuse to be intimidated by dumb-asses, and if they have a gun, they have to pull it out, and I'm still not afraid. It's a two step process of having the gun, pulling it out and, then shooting straight. When you have 290 pounds of "someone who's sick of this kind of dumb shit" breaking bones at the same time you are attempting that type of shit, well, take your chances then. When I decide to move, I move fast, and I don't screw around. I take the chance of getting shot or stabbed, and I willingly deal with that chance. That's my choice, and I am willing to make it and have done so before. I will do so again. Within seconds, I will size up the situation and make my move. I realize I will be committed at that point, and then there better be some action and rest assured there will be. I will not live my life in fear of any criminals and the chance they might have a gun, do you understand that? Good. You be afraid, my choice is to not be afraid. The person that got out of his vehicle and ranted and raved I made a choice not to get out of mine unless I felt that it was necessary. I did not believe he had a gun, and waited it out. That was my choice at the time. I also did not believe the punk in the bus had a gun either.
