I did not have the opportunity to listen today as the signal was poor, will any of these be podcast?

Shane is hard at work right now. We've been a little slow with some postings on troyneff.com because of the launch of a new site votelucascounty.com We should be back to normal today.

Since I usually only get to catch this show by listening here I was struck by the amount of time spent on the courthouse story. Is the show based on what the Toledo Blade has on the front page or does the host pick his own topics? Living here I find I'm not really interested in Tiffin, does the show have a lot of Tiffin listeners is that the reason? I'm more concerned with the building downtown owned by the United Way but I haven't heard Mr. Ketsin (sp) on to talk about it yet. And the mayor says the same thing each week when he is on with Mr. Neff who seems to really support him. Are they friends?

The Blade I believe has really villified Ben Nutter. The Tiffin story is for me a way to show Blade bullying tactics. Mr. Kitson was on Fri and this Monday check troyneff.com archives. The mayor and I are not friends and I supported Keith Wilkowski on the air. I get information sometimes first and other media outlets don't get at all from the mayor. The mayor is good radio.

Maybe, but trust me - he is just using you.

Just like all the many that came before you. Soon, you will be tossed to the wind like the others.

Did you consider I may be using him as well?

I'm not sure about the mayor being good radio. Shouldn't good radio be more than a politician using the public airwaves to lie and cover his mistakes? I know Mr. Neff has said elsewhere on here that he wants his audience to listen and make thier own decisions but personally I would like to hear tougher questions with some follow up other than giggling. Maybe that's why the mayor won't go on other media. To each his own though.

The mayor has a chance to defend his actions, unedited. The mayor said today that nothing would change his mind regarding the united way bldg. Exactly what hardball question should I have asked then? I could have brought up the damage due to the earthquake, but what good would it have done. Look I laugh and have a good time sorry that bothers you but I'm not gonna change. See, I think the best way to take on the mayor is to bring others on the program to make their case like Bill Kitson, Michael Miller and various councilman and commissioners.

How bout - "Mr Mayor, what right do you feel an elected official has to dictate to a private entity what they do with their own property?"

why he feels he has a right to tell the united way what to do. I don't agree of course. I don't think he feels he has a right though but a duty to the city to not just tear everything down.

Mr. Mayor- what expertise did you bring to your inspection of the building?
did the engineers who accompanied you agree with your assessment?
how would your tour have been different if media had been present?
do you have a solution to United Way having to spend $400K in upkeep each year?
what historic building was torn down to make way for 1 Government Center, and did you
agree or disagree with that decision?
and finally a repeat of the question above?

People who live in a Glass City shouldn't throw stones.

he said it didn't matter, you can't change his mind. What we need to do as a community is support the united way's decision.

Where are the results you promised to get for us?

Where are the jobs?

What are you doing to stop the exodus from the older neighborhoods and the influx of plywood on the vacant houses.

what he feels are the accomplishments of his current administration. Change will only come at the ballot box. Toledo has the government it deserves.

FORGET WHAT THE POLITICOS SAY. STOP EXPECTING THE GOVERNMENT TO CREATE JOBS.

but I believe that is the reason why Finkbeiner is despised by so many people, despised by unions, and will never get union backing again. That thought has been articulated to me by union leadership.

He tricked people into supporting him for this last fling at mayor so he could get his best 3 years in PERS. It is all about Carty. He is like a pig at a feeding trough.

He alienated himself by promising the police union, police command, IBEW, Teamsters, Local 500, etc., a pro-jobs, pro-business agenda that he did not deliver on. He did not make a mistake in these projections. He LIED.

Instead of working on this city's most pressing problems, this clown prefers to plant flowers.

That is so much easier than actually doing the work of a mayor.

and you were not "tricked" into supporting him

you took a free job from this man for your work on his campaign.

you screwed that job up, but it was yours and you took it.

had it worked out, I know your opinion would be much different

what about full disclosure before talking about "tricked" and "lying'?

lie what you will about me, but I've been nothing but honest and open.

Who wrote anything about government creating jobs?

Incentives for companies to come here and do business, oh, wait, that's bad too.

Tax payer monies used as incentives.

But all the states and cities in some way do this.

Well, let's forget about jobs, I have two low paying ones and it's not the governments place to create them, but they support retraining into jobs, want to loan money to the auto maker to create new opportunities, etc.

How about, revitalizing the city? As in working with local groups, non-profits to turn around the older neighborhoods.

Oh, no, wait, that means the government would be involved again.

"..what he feels are the accomplishments of his current administration."

Sure, then there is the flip side, the stagnating neighborhoods, rising sales of plywood, loss of property taxes when more and more houses are taken over by the city, county and state.

But we would not want to talk about that, no, that is being negative.

Why not ask him why festering, burned out hulks of houses are not taken care of ina timely manner.

Or how about this vacant rental home with trash and property not being maintained?

it is fairly certain to say, that if the Mayor was pressed on anything, in a journalistic fashion, the interview would be over and another media outlet would be shut out.

Flower planters and window dressing is not helping.

Is an idea.

After reading the comments by Sarantou, possibly to be on the air waves soon to share the obvious state of affairs with the city's finances.

It was stunning the revelation that because of a loss in income tax receipts has contributed to the financial woes of the city.

Stunning observation.

But that runs contrary to the position of the administration that there has been a decline in population.
