Here's a question for you. If someone had a great idea that would bring new business and jobs to the area, but Carty just flat out didnt like the guy, would Carty stand in his way even knowing full well that his stance would be detrimental to the area??

Carty wanted Bass Pro - Wanted it BAD. Carty lost, and Brian McMahon got it located in Rossford. Note that Brian had been working with Bass Pro BEFORE Carty's infamous helicopter ride (I believe if Brian had pulled a stunt like that Carty'd have called it "Pilfering")
SO - the man has a successful track record. This success comes DESPITE politicians from Toledo and the press badmouthing him. All he needed was a favorable business environment like he's found in Wood county and look what's happened... Has anyone driven past the site yet??
Is Carty putting his foot in the way of the Intermodal simply because he hates Brian McMahon?? Could a mayor of a city this size and in this much financial trouble be that shallow??
You're damn right he could.
Does a bear poop in the woods, Billy? We all know he would do that if for no other reason than it's not his idea. Carty would sign in a New York minute if he gets the credit. Toledo will not move forward the way it should until Carty is out of office.
Carty has control over Wood County water. That is the difference, but if someone can prove me wrong let me know.
FYI... neither BG or NB depend on Carty for their water, as far as I know.

I am intrigued by the idea of Intermodal Toledo. At the very least it's a realistic plan for the future.
It's very similar to an idea I had concerning post secondary education, the area, and the Department of Defense that I am putting together to pitch to several local and federal entities.

The City of Sylvania purchased land in Luna Pier, MI next to Lake Erie.

I was told by the former Monroe County Drain Commissioner Rollin Webb that he was approached by Sylvania officials in or around 2000 regarding a water purfication plant proposal for their land in Luna Pier since their contract with Toledo to supply water was coming up for renewal. Toledo, meanwhile, was trying to slow the exodus out of the City

The City of Sylvania was going to be back in negotiations with then Toledo Mayor Jack Ford to renew the contract with Toledo for water rights. The Sylvania plan was to include Southern Monroe County, Sylvania, Sylvania Township, Monclova Township and Berkey. Here IN HIS OWN WORDS, Jack Ford admits that Sylvania was interested in building their own water purfication plant in Luna Pier.
"A key reason, for example, is to deter Sylvania from seeking its own water lines from Michigan." (complete article from the Sojourner's Truth available here)

Total cost of the project to supply water to Western Lucas County and Southern Monroe County was approximately $90 Million.
In responce, Jack Ford negotiated a water deal in private with then Sylvania Mayor Craig Stough.
HOWEVER, if Brian McMahon needs water rights, I can almost guarantee that if he picks up the Sylvania plan, in addition to supplying his interModal site, he could get customers from Sylvania, Southern Monroe County, and almost every city and township in Western Lucas County.
IMAGINE IT BRIAN! A private company supplying drinking water for all those hundreds of thousands of customers WHO CURRENTLY HATE DEALING WITH CARTY FINKBINER and being subjagated to the mindless whims of Toledo.
Why not find McMahaon's email address and send this appeal to him directly? Better yet, call him (he's a businessman, so he should be reachable) and make the same appeal. At least, he can use the proposal to leverage his way past Czarty or whatever nutty mayor that runs this place other than the Blockade newspaper.
That's what some of the people in the area seem to be advocating or wanting.
A company, not government, to step in and make deals happen.
