I can't believe that the Sheriff's department is under investigation by the FBI. They have been the epitome of perfection in the last 15 years. Guns getting smuggled in, drugs, mistaken releases, deputies now serving behind bars, those are nothing but little blips on such an impeccable record. Someone please pinch me.
A federal investigation is underway to determine how inmates are getting illegal drugs into the Lucas County Jail.
The FBI's investigation revolves around Carleton Benton who was arrested in 2004 after being accused of killing his cousin and his cousin's wife over drugs
I hope you're joking about your disbelief in the wrong doings of Telb's dept & the jail. Telb has run a somewhat crooked, slipshod, half-ass jail for years, has mismanaged his dept., it's finances & payroll, hiring & firing, , his 'leadership' has endangered lives & gotten people killed in that jail (at least a couple of officers are known for their 'choke holds'), manipulated video of a man who died by tasers (to remove suspicious sections) which was apparent when viewed, and has underfunded & undertrained his staff for decades (they use antiquated weapons, many of which do not work, as well as video cameras that don't always work), none of his staff has had or terrorist training - possibly not hostage training, but perhaps he's fixed that by now. Most of the inmate drug use is with drugs smuggled in by employees (the same can be said for any jail or prison though). An FBI investigation? I say, it's about freaking time.
serious? I don't believe it. I thought Telb, Perry and everyone had their finger on the pulse of what is going on at the jail.
He has been behind the scenes working on this too for 28 months. You just don't know all about it yet.
I am dead serious chris - I know people who worked with him for years, can't name a name because I can't drag them into anything. But yes, dead ass serious - everything I said is TRUE. Telb's men were pretty much a laughing stock at a convention a few years ago because of their outdated weapons, as well. And yes, some of the video cameras do not work. If you can still find the video of the man who was 'loittering' behind the museum (mentally challenged), and repeatedly tasered, on site & after they took him downtown - you can see for yourself the tape has been spliced, parts removed - entire segments gone - alive in one part, dead later - missing video. It is also a fact (not just in our jail) that most of the drug smuggling is done by jail or prison employees. Telb made all kinds of his buddies 'deputies', and his top three men were his buddies first, and just as sleazy. I've been told that Telb is a nice guy, even by those who speak ill of him - and I assume he is. But there's more to running the sheriff's dept than to be a 'nice guy'. Too many inmates have been beaten, injured or died - under suspicious conditions. An inmate is less safe in our jail, then if he was in prison. THAT is a fact.
One of the many problems with the ringmaster Sheriff Telb and the rest of the circus is that they are too busy trying to backtrack to fix their mistakes because when they should have been doing their jobs the right way they were too busy trying to cover their butts on something else. There are inmates in the jail that are less crooked than some of the people in charge there.
I voted against Telb in the last election when he was supposed to be retiring (yeah right).
But again, the apathetic sheep a.k.a. Toledo area residents went ahead and voted his sorry butt back into office.
