Wow, I am watching that Primetime live program on ABC and boy it looks bad. I guess the nation knows our dirty little secret that police response times in Toledo suck. The Toledo Police look like fools for telling the parents to not worry, then taking so long to respond and releasing the criminals. I will try to post the video here later tonight so you can watch it yourself. Interesting that story on the father who broke in to the house, well the house is in Wilma Brown's district. At lease we know the child care centers are under control in that area.

any time there is a budget crisis in the city the administration threatens that it will have to reduce police and/or fire personnel. Am I missing something or does it seem like they need more patrol officers not less?
I watched this show. What a huge national blackeye for the city again. It is old news but still it makes us look bad. I was hoping for a bit more information in the report. Time constraints must have kept them from airing what types of calls took priority over a child kidnapping and an assault in progress. 93 mins before a cop can arrive is a horrible responce time. I do not know how calls get shunted from station to station. But it seems to me someone had to be available somewhere down the line.
I repeat...this city is a hole.
Hey Carty, "Toledo Pride"? Really? Can you honestly say you are proud of this city right now? Has anyone listed all the negative press our "fair" city has had over the past few years alone? Try Googling "Toledo sucks" and see what happens. We're known far and wide.

And of course, Mike Navarre, while he used to be an excellent police officer, now answers to Carty or loses his job. Much like how mayor Marge Brown runs the Oregon police dept. Navarre parrots what Carty tells him to say & do. My guess is Navarre doesn't so much agree with Carty, as he's just terrified of being fired - as an 'at will' employee, he can be fired for pretty much any reason at all.

I don't believe that. Case in point, how much would Carty have to pay you to run a police department as dirty as Toledo's, complete with abuse of authority by officers under your command, and then lie about it. How long could you keep it up? Navarre is the same man now as he was back then.
