Science Debate 2008 -- an effort spearheaded by half a dozen voters concerned about the state of American science -- posed 14 questions to the major parties' presidential candidates, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.
The queries were culled from more than 3,400 suggestions offered by 38,000 contributors, including Nobel laureates, university presidents, government officials and professional organizations.

...And how useless.... In an area that is of significant national importance, both to our economic future and security. The past eight years have seen countless assaults in the integrity and robustness of our scientific landscape, at the very least found the White House frequently at odds with the scientific community.
I remember a piece in Popular Science a few years ago that listed out the top ten worst positions in the field of science, political science advisor rated high, 'cause you're there just to 'support' the politicians' pre-conceived notions. *sigh*
