Port Authority Board Meeting-WSPD Only Radio Station On Hand

Tagged:  •    •

Fred and Meghan were the only radio people at the board meeting this morning , and also at the presentation by the airport which followed it. We have audio and commentary during WSPD newscasts this afternoon and will discuss it tomorrow morning of Fred LeFebvre and The Morning News beginning at 5:30a on 1370 WSPD.
Some people talk to the people who were there, WE WERE THERE.

Your rating: None

And like you said, Some people talk to the people who were there , and then post out here on swamp bubbles and call it BREAKING NEWS

I love the fact that you are complimenting yourselves being at a news related event. Is that not what your jobs are? Are you not the "News" Radio station? Should we put up posts complimenting garbage workers for showing up to their jobs! Keep bringing the city down one show at a time!!!

Actually green, it is not my job. It is my job to comment on the news. However i find I do my job much better when I attend as many of these type events as possible so I don't have to rely on other reporters and "newsmakers" to tell me what happened. Thanks for commenting though, always good to have input on these topics.

who does not attend the meetings but talks to the newsmakers and those who are actually journalists covering the events. Yeah, Michael Miller called me back this morning to say that the meeting was rescheduled for next week. Congratulations for attending a meeting that didn't happen. :)

Troy, don't assume you are the person to whom I was referring. There are a number of stations in town many actually show up in the ratings. Not sure which meeting Michael spoke with you about but Meghan sat through a two hour Port Board meeting at which the levy was discussed and an announcement was made about the investigation. I personally attended the meeting regarding the future of the airport. I can talk about these before 6a if you like so you can hear about them before you go on air.

WSPD Only Radio Station On Hand Who did you expect to see there, K100?

Actually pink, if that's your real name, I would expect any station that has news to be there, yes. Is that too much to ask? I'm curious to hear your opinion.

Hey now, I don't make fun of your name on Thursdays.

Seriously though, are you doing the news now?  Are you in the news dept?  (careful now...)  Because according to the FCC:

News Distortion.  The Commission often receives complaints concerning broadcast journalism, such as allegations that stations have aired inaccurate or one-sided news reports or comments, covered stories inadequately, or overly dramatized the events that they cover.  For the reasons noted above, the Commission generally will not intervene in such cases because it would be inconsistent with the First Amendment to replace the journalistic judgment of licensees with our own.  However, as public trustees, broadcast licensees may not intentionally distort the news:  the FCC has stated that “rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest.”  The Commission will investigate a station for news distortion if it receives documented evidence of such rigging or slanting, such as testimony or other documentation, from individuals with direct personal knowledge that a licensee or its management engaged in the intentional falsification of the news.  Of particular concern would be evidence of the direction to employees from station management to falsify the news.  However, absent such a compelling showing, the Commission will not intervene.  For additional information about news distortion, see http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/journalism.html.
