ZANESVILLE, OHIO -- Barack Obama pledged Tuesday to expand a controversial White House program that funnels federal money to religious charities, embracing a core piece of President Bush's legacy as he tries to win over Republican-leaning evangelical voters.
Obama, who worked for a Roman Catholic group as a community organizer in Chicago in the early 1980s, said the "challenges we face today -- from saving our planet to ending poverty -- are simply too big for government to solve alone."
In giving Obama another chance to remind voters of his Christianity, Tuesday's announcement carried an added political benefit for a candidate whose religious affiliation has been the subject of rumor and controversy. He quit his church after his longtime pastor made explosive comments, and he has tried to quash false reports that he is a Muslim.

Yes they do Kooz, and if anyone ever desires to donate some money for disaster relief, your local church can see to it that the funding gets to where it needs to be, generally with zero "administration funding".
But money from the government to religious charities?? You have to remember, whatever you get from the government has a string attached. If you believe that the term 'separation of church and state' is there to protect the church from the government and not vice versa, then the church needs to not to be beholden to the government.

What it means is this: The Salvation Army does a much better job of helping the poor and needy than the government that you pretend to be a part of. The Salvation Army delivers a much higher value per dollar given to them than does the government.
Of course, the Salvation Army is far and away more selective in allowing people to join than the government will ever be. For instance, you must be a moral person to join the Salvation Army; not amoral, as in government.
