For those of you who did not get to attend the Obama event you can read about it at:

So now watch what happens. In 2004, every time one candidate showed up in one area, the other candidate showed up. I think we will see the local party standing by watching if McCain shows up in Toledo in the next 1-6 days.

At the very least these candidates and their entourages pump some much-needed cash into the coffers of local restaurants, hotels, bars, and office supply stores. As long as Ohio remains a national bellwether state, we can count on an infusion of cash every four years.
Not to mention... oh, never mind. Use your imagination to consider "unofficial" money that works its way into the local economy when national politicians come a-visiting.

* New legislation that would allow families to withdraw 15% of their retirement savings — up to a maximum of $10,000 — without facing a tax-penalty this year (including retroactively) and next year.
I do not see how this would help anything. I forsee foolish people draining 10K from their savings to buy those new Wide Screen LCD TV's especially before the 2-19-09 switchover date to DTV. The result a frivolous draw on their retirement for a consumable they do not need at this point in time.
- Just the KAT, thinking out loud again.

Historymike, what type of 'unofficial' money are you referring to? Just making sure I'm assuming correctly. Next, are you implying that Obama brought 'unofficial' money with him?? I'm all for the city and state making money if it will benefit the poeople of the area. I'm not ok with what sounds like a cheap insinuating shot at Barack Obama or his 'entourage' that just came to visit. Clarification requested.
